When naming cypress trees, of course you must pronounce bǎi
Xibaipo was originally called Baibu Village. It was built in the Tang Dynasty. It was named after the number of cypress trees on the north ridge of the village. It was later renamed Baipo. The village is divided into two natural villages, East and West. In order to facilitate the distinction, people call them Dongbaipo and Xibaipo. When the Gangnan Reservoir was built in 1958, they left the beautiful and rich Hutuo River. Some of them moved to other places to settle down, and the rest moved to two gentle areas on the hillside in the north of the village, about two kilometers apart, and were redefined as Dongbaipo and Dongbaipo. There are two administrative villages in Xibaipo.
Beautiful legend
A long time ago, in the area at the foot of Taihang Shandong, people suffered from a war, followed by a plague, and the people died. , the countryside is deserted and desolate.
Only on the north bank of the Hutuo River, in the embrace of the mountains, is a valley plain. At the end of the plain is a hillside. In the middle of the mountainside are two ancient cypress trees. From a distance, they look lush and lively. exuberant.
Not long after, some villagers moved in from under the big locust tree in Hongdong County, Shanxi Province and settled in this area. They picked off the cypress shells from the cypress tree in the middle of the mountainside and scattered them on the mountainside. On the hillside, small cypress trees grow all over the mountains and plains, which are green all year round. Their village was built at the west end of Baishu Slope, and its name was Xibai Slope.
A few years later, the small plain in front of Xibaipo Village turned into a fertile farmland, and actually developed into a very wealthy and large village, which gradually became prosperous. The feng shui of this place is special. There is Donkey Mountain in the front and a cypress slope in the back. In the direction of the wind, there is a crown-shaped hilltop, especially the two ancient cypresses on the mountainside. They seem to be male and female and have a strange shape. This mountain is full of young cypresses. It looks extraordinarily tall and majestic in the middle, and is said to be able to ward off disasters and suppress evil spirits. I heard people say that there will be an "emperor" here in the future.
Later, somehow it reached the ears of the current emperor. He was very frightened, so he secretly asked the barbarians to destroy the Feng Shui of Baipo in order to secure his throne. The barbarian arrived at Baipo and looked for dragon veins. He took advantage of the situation and chopped down the male and female cypress trees overnight. That night, the Hutuo River suddenly burst into floods, sweeping away all the crops, trees and houses. The few people who survived by chance rebuilt a village at the foot of the cypress slope, still called Xibaipo. After many years, their situation became prosperous again.
