Why did Yongzheng go against orthodoxy and build the Western Mausoleum of the Qing Dynasty? Why didn't Qianlong want to be buried in the Qingxi Mausoleum?

Emperor Yongzheng wanted to violate the system of "sons being buried with fathers" and found a new way to build the Qingxi Mausoleum. Personally, the reason is that he was a reformer and wanted to show his difference in everything. When Emperor Qianlong chose the mausoleum, he returned to the Eastern Tomb of the Qing Dynasty in order to correct his father's approach and prevent future emperors from opening up mausoleums at will. 1. There are two theories that Emperor Yongzheng opened the Qingxi Mausoleum

There has been a rumor among the people that Emperor Yongzheng built the Qingxi Mausoleum and let himself rest here. Some people say that Emperor Yongzheng came to the throne in a wrong way, and he felt guilty in his heart. He did not dare to face his father Kangxi after his death, so he chose to build a new mausoleum instead of being buried with his father.

Of course, some people believe that Emperor Yongzheng's decision to build a separate mausoleum has a lot to do with his implementation of the New Deal and the path of reform throughout his life. He offended many powerful people in his life. After experiencing nine sons seizing the throne, Yongzheng was very courageous and dared to do things on the opposite side of his ministers.

Such a maverick emperor would want to do something different from other emperors a hundred years later. It is precisely because of this reason that he violated the ancestral system of "sons being buried with their fathers" and the emergence of the Qingxi Mausoleum. 2. Emperor Qianlong was buried back in the Eastern Tomb of the Qing Dynasty to set an example for future generations

After Emperor Qianlong succeeded to the throne, although he did not follow the path set by Yongzheng in terms of governance, he did This made it impossible for future generations to create another mausoleum. This matter was to let himself be buried in the Qing Dong Tomb.

The Eastern Tomb of Qing Dynasty is the mausoleum of Emperor Kangxi, his grandfather Huang. As the son of Emperor Kangxi, Yongzheng should have been buried in the Eastern Tomb of Qing Dynasty. Now he chose to be buried in the Western Tomb of Qing Dynasty. If he was buried in the Western Tomb of Qing Dynasty, the Eastern Tomb of Qing Dynasty would inevitably decline, which would be detrimental to future generations of the Qing Dynasty.

Qianlong not only allowed himself to be buried in the Eastern Tomb of the Qing Dynasty, but also stipulated that future emperors could no longer open up mausoleums at will or do other things. Since then, the emperors of the Qing Dynasty have been buried in the two cemeteries of the Western Qing Tomb and the Eastern Qing Tomb.

From the time Yongzheng built the Qingxi Mausoleum to the end of the Qing Dynasty, four emperors were buried here, the other three being Jiaqing, Daoguang, and Guangxu.
