Fengxian Hall is located at the southern end of Dongliugong, where emperors of Ming and Qing dynasties offered sacrifices to their ancestors. Emperor Yongle of the Ming Dynasty moved the capital to Beijing, and built Fengxian Temple on the east side of Gan Qing Palace as a ancestral temple according to the Taizu system.
It was rebuilt in the 14th year of Shunzhi in Qing Dynasty, and rebuilt in Kang and Gan Dynasties, forming the present layout of Fengxian Hall. After the establishment of People's Republic of China (PRC), Fengxian Temple was transformed and used as a cultural relic warehouse and a special exhibition hall.
