Shaoshi Mountain, whose main peak is connected to Tianfeng, is also known as Zhaixing Tower. It is 1,512 meters above sea level and is the highest peak of Songshan Mountain. Shaoshi Mountain is a key scenic spot of Songshan National Forest Park, and Shaolin Temple National AAAAA-level tourist attraction is located in it. It is located in the dense jungle of Shaoshi Mountain in the hinterland of Songshan Mountain, hence the name "Shaolin Temple".
The east side of Shaoshi Mountain is opposite to Taishi Mountain, about 10 kilometers away from Taishi Mountain. The Shaolin River originates from here. It is said that King Xia Yu's second wife, the sister of the Tushan family, lived here. A temple for her young aunt was built at the foot of the mountain to honor her, so the mountain is called "Shaoshi". "Shaoshi Mountain is located at the southern foot of Songshan Mountain, 6 kilometers west of Dengfeng City, Zhengzhou. Take a bus from the long-distance bus station opposite Zhengzhou Railway Station to Dengfeng City at the foot of Zhongyue Songshan Mountain, and then take a minibus from Dengfeng City.
The peaks of Shaoshi are surrounded by banners and arrayed like swords and halberds. It is quite spectacular. Some rise from the ground, some are meandering, some are like tigers squatting, and some are like lions. When dancing, some are like giant dragons sleeping, and some are like turtles crawling. The peaks and ridges are jagged, and the canyons are crisscrossed. It is said that "the Taishi is like a sleeping dragon, and the young is like a dancing phoenix".
