The place where the koi pond is set up must consider several factors such as sunshine, wind direction, rain, safety, dust, etc. The surface area of ??the pond must be at least 5 to 30 square meters, and the depth of the fish pond must be enough to raise large koi. It needs 1.5 to 2 meters, while small carp only needs 80 centimeters. The water volume of the fish pond is between 20 tons and 50 tons. The shape and structure of the fish pond can be built in a Chinese or Western style according to personal preference.
1. If the sun shines in the west, it is best to set the fish pond in a place covered by trees to avoid prolonged exposure to the west. 2. The direction of water flow in the pool should be along the wall of the pool. 3. The depth of the pool should be twice the body of the fish.
4. If the pool is too shallow, not only will the fish be unable to move, but also because the water is shallow and there is little water, the temperature of the pool will change too much, which will be unbearable for the fish.
Sedimentation tank
Generally speaking, the function of the sedimentation tank is to precipitate and eliminate large particles of dirt in the water to reduce the burden on the filter tank. The bottom of the sedimentation tank must be about one meter higher than the bottom of the pond. In this way, if the water in the sedimentation tank runs out, there will still be one meter of water in the fish pond, which will not immediately endanger the life of the fish. The water outlet in the sedimentation tank should be 30 centimeters higher than the bottom, and it is best to be located in a place that is exposed to ultraviolet rays and has good ventilation.
□Filtration
Raising koi requires very high water quality, so there are facilities such as sedimentation and filtration. However, the current more advanced view is that toxic chemicals and toxic gases will still accumulate at the bottom of the sedimentation tank, which is harmful to fish. Therefore, Japan's latest design no longer has a sedimentation tank, and completely uses biochemical methods to decompose all impurities. There are four ways to filter:
1. Physical filter, sand, gravel, oyster shell... 2. Chemical filter medical stone, activated carbon, ion exchange resin.
3. Biochemical filtration (biological filtration) sand, gravel, honeycomb tube, and brush. 4. Plants filter lithopris and aquatic plants.
□Filter tank
The water volume in the filter tank should be maintained at 20 to 30%. There are two principles for setting up filter tanks. One is the upward flow type, where the water flows from bottom to top, sinking the dirt at the bottom of the tank. The other is the multi-tank connection, where the water passes through one tank after another, which has a better effect.
Currently, the two most popular filter tanks are the FOK type and the Gaolin type. FOK type filter tank is currently a popular type in Taiwan. Its characteristics are that the filter material brushes are neatly arranged in the tank, the fish pond and the filter tank are arranged on the same level, and the motor pumps water at the rear end, so the water is naturally filtered, which is very economical. One concept I want to emphasize here is that the brush is a biochemical filtration rather than a physical filtration. We use the bacteria on the brush to decompose impurities in the fish and water.
The Kobayashi type filter tank is the latest type of filter tank in Japan. It does not have a sedimentation tank, and there is no equipment to drain dirty water. The filter tank does not need to be cleaned. Gaolin's filter tank has been used in Japan for more than ten years, and the use effect is very good. The basic concept of the creation of the Golin filter tank is that there were dead spaces between the filter materials in the filter tank in the past, which easily accumulated dirt and produced toxic chemicals. Therefore, it was replaced with a structure like melon cloth but the material was harder and the pores were larger. Something through which water can flow, and the impurities in the water will be decomposed by the bacteria in the filter material. Its arrangement is one layer of filter skin and one layer of filter strips. □ Accessories
There are three important things in a fish pond. One is the waterway. Regardless of groundwater or tap water, before entering the fish pond or passing through the tank, it is best to go through a waterway to make the water contact the air and quickly improve the water quality. . Why improve water quality? Take groundwater as an example. Groundwater has low oxygen content and high hardness. If it does not pass through the waterway, it directly enters the filter tank. The filter tank is a place where bacteria act. If there is a lack of oxygen in the water, what is produced is anaerobic bacteria, which is toxic gas. Making the water quality worse, if it passes through the water, the oxygen content of the water will increase, the PH value will increase, and the hardness will decrease, and the water quality will be improved. So having a waterway or aeration or waterfall is an important thing. If some plants are planted on the waterway, it can also absorb chemical phosphorus. The second is water. If you add enough new water, the fish will have a better appetite. The third is the motor. The motor must be energy-saving, safe and effective.
The ancillary devices of the fish pond include:
1. Germicidal lamp: irradiates ultraviolet light to kill excessive algae;
2. Automatic feeder: the fish is not fed, and too much is fed at one time , will cause indigestion and fail to grow up, so some people use automatic bait feeders to control feeding; 3. Air compressor; 4. Oxygen cylinder; 5. Air stones; 6. Fish net floating tank; 7. Plastic water tank
