During the Southern and Northern Dynasties, the Tuoba clan established the Northern Wei Dynasty and also made Luoyang its capital. At this time, Luoyang City was located near Mengjin and Yanshi, about fifteen miles east of Luoyang City. This is a geomantic treasure land: it faces Mang Mountain to the north and Luo River to the south, with excellent natural conditions. Luoyang, the capital of the Northern Wei Dynasty, was built differently from the previous capitals in the Han and Wei dynasties. The city is divided into three layers: outer outline, inner city and palace city. Construct exteriors on the east, west and south sides of the inner city. The innermost palace city is the center of the entire Luoyang capital.
