Village layout of Liukeng Village

Liukeng Village is surrounded by mountains, and Enjiang flows from south to north and west. In the Ming Dynasty, Dong Gui connected the lake with the river with the artificially excavated Southwest Longhu Lake, making Liukeng Village a scenic spot surrounded by mountains and rivers. The ancient camphor tree on the right bank of Enjiang River, from Tian Niu Town to the entrance of the village, is shaded for more than ten miles, and the scenery is extremely beautiful. After Dong Gui rebuilt the village, the original cobweb-dense alleys were connected by seven horizontal and one vertical wide streets, and watchtowers were built at the beginning and end of the wide lanes for opening and closing defense. Tribes live in different areas according to the branches of family factions, just like the Li Fang Regulations in the Tang and Song Dynasties. The combination of ancestral halls of various factions and ethnic groups is like the stars arching the moon. The ancestral hall of the whole clan was built in the north of the village, and other temples were built outside the village to meet the requirements of ancient sacrifices. Surrounded by Enjiang River and Longhu Lake outside the village, there is a walled gate house to watch, much like a small city.
