What animal is a walrus?

Walruses are social animals.

Walruses are mainly distributed in the shallow waters of the Arctic, and there are three subspecies, namely Atlantic Walruses, Pacific Walruses and Siberian Walruses. Ivory is a self-defense weapon for walruses. Walruses live in high latitudes, and killer whales and polar bears are their natural enemies. Once encountered, walruses will show their weapons-fangs. They are called "kings on ice floes" because of their huge size, protecting their fangs, and they will be very crazy when provoked. Even polar bears don't want to mess with them

Walrus' tusks symbolize strength. Walruses belong to social animals. In walrus family, the size of teeth determines the status of individuals, and it is also a sharp weapon for the same kind to compete for territory and "wife". But the fight between walruses can be regarded as a point-to-point, and once the opponent obviously has the upper hand, the fight will end immediately.

Characteristics of walrus

Although walrus looks heavy on land, it swims freely in the water. Walruses can dive to a depth of 500 meters, and the deepest point can reach 1500 meters. You can stay underwater for two hours. If you need fresh air, walruses can surface in 3 minutes. Such superb diving skills are mainly due to the extremely rich blood in the body. Walrus blood accounts for about 20% of the whole body weight, while human blood only accounts for 7% of the body weight.

Walruses have a lot of blood in their bodies and store a lot of oxygen, so it is not surprising that they have been diving in the ocean for a long time. Walruses can make all kinds of sounds, such as barking, knocking, cracking and ringing. Especially in walrus breeding season, male walruses attract female walruses by holding "solo concerts" and demonstrate to other male walruses.
