The first water town in China: Zhouzhuang, Kunshan. Zhouzhuang is located southeast of Suzhou City and southwest of Kunshan. It was called Zhenfengli in ancient times. During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, Zhouzhuang was the fiefdom of King Wu Shaozi Yao, and was called Yao City. In the first year of Yuanyou in the Northern Song Dynasty (1086), more than 200 acres of Zhou Digong's house was donated to the local Quanfu Temple as a temple, which was first called Zhouzhuang. In the middle of the Yuan Dynasty, Shen Wansan took advantage of the water transportation of the Baijiang River in the north of Zhouzhuang Town to carry out trade, and Zhouzhuang Therefore, it became a distribution center for grain, silk, ceramics, and handicrafts, and became a giant town in the south of the Yangtze River. In the early years of Emperor Kangxi's reign in the Qing Dynasty, it was officially named Zhouzhuang Town.
Zhouzhuang Town is a Zeguo town, with rivers forming streets, presenting a simple, bright and quiet atmosphere. It is a typical Jiangnan "small bridge, flowing water, and people". Although it has gone through more than 900 years of vicissitudes, it is still completely preserved. With the original style and layout of the ancient water town, it is like a pearl inlaid on the shore of Dianshan Lake.
The most famous scenic spots in Zhouzhuang are Fu'an Bridge, Shuangqiao and Shen Hall. Fu'an Bridge is the only remaining three-dimensional bridge and wall building in the south of the Yangtze River; the twin bridges are connected by two bridges and have a unique shape; Shen Hall is a Qing-style courtyard house with a strict overall structure and different local styles; in addition, Chengxu Taoist temples, Quanfu Temple and other religious sites. Jinxi (formerly known as Chen Tomb) is located 23 kilometers southwest of Kunshan City, bordering Qingpu District of Shanghai to the east and Wuzhong District of Suzhou City to the west. adjacent. "Jiao Zhi"

Why is this place called Luzhi? According to "Fu Li Zhi": Luzhi's original name was Fuli, which was named after "Fulitang" in the west of the town. "Tongli"
Tongli, formerly known as "Futu", was changed to "Tongli" in the early Tang Dynasty because its name was too extravagant. In the Song Dynasty, some scholars changed the old name to "Futu". The two characters "Tu" overlap each other, point upward, and cross in the middle. The split character is "Tongli", which is still used today. Tongli is located 10 kilometers west of Zhouzhuang and only 18 kilometers away from Suzhou City. The ancient town is surrounded by water and embedded in the five lakes of Tongli, Jiuli, Yeze, Nanxing and Pangshan. The building stands on the water and is known as the "Little Venice of the East". The main features of Tongli are: there are many water and bridges, many buildings in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and many celebrities and scholars. It is famous for its "small bridges, flowing water, and people's homes." The main attractions can be summarized as "One Garden", "Two Halls" and "Three Bridges" ". There are many residential houses in Tongli Ancient Town. Although they are not all built along the river like Zhouzhuang, they give people a sense of space. The river here is more open and paved with bluestone slabs.
