One day, a Feng Shui gentleman passed by here. The villagers, out of curiosity, asked the Feng Shui master why people in my village were so weak and sick. After touring the village, feng shui master said, you villagers are drinking stagnant water. No wonder there are so many patients. The best way to develop the village is to make the water in the river in the middle of the village move. When the water is alive, the population will naturally flourish. You might as well fill an underwater dam on the big river in the west of the village, block the water in, let the water in the city river move, the water will be clean and safe, and the feng shui will gradually improve.
? The people in the village listened to Mr. Feng Shui, and everyone contributed. Everyone used boats to load the broken bricks and tiles discarded by people in front of and behind the house to the west of the village and throw them into the mouth of Xitiaoxi River near the village. Everyone collects firewood with a high flame, which accumulates over time. Slowly, a brick dam was built by the river, which is said to be more than 20 meters long at the longest. Now the dam is still there, but it is not as long and wide as before. It has been submerged in water.
? When I was a child, every summer, the men in the village liked to take their children to the brick dam in the river to learn to swim, because the water there was shallow, waist-deep and the dam surface was wide, which was especially suitable for children to learn to swim. The dam has always been a good place for villagers to swim, dig clams and touch shrimps in summer.
? According to the memories of the older generation, since Zhujiaba filled the dam foundation at the mouth of Tiaoxi River in the west of the village, the fruit in the river has really flowed, and the geomantic omen is getting better and better, and fewer and fewer people are sick. The population is exploding and increasing. At most, there were more than 360 families living in the village, and the old society became a famous small market town outside the south gate of Huzhou Prefecture.
? The villagers are lively, hardworking and simple. Not only mulberry, sericulture and fish farming, but also many people have started small businesses. The villagers opened teahouses, restaurants, fish restaurants, rice shops, wood shops, cloth shops, wine shops and so on. Villagers in Gangnan District have built many wooden houses, especially Yucheng Winery, with ten rooms for brewing wine. "Yucheng Liquor" sold well all over Sujiahu and became the brewing center of Huzhou for a time.
Several old people in the village told me that Zhujiaba is indeed a treasure trove of geomantic omen. In the early years, there were many scholars as prime ministers and many officials as sesame and mung beans. In the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, descendants of Zhu moved here one after another, and Zhu gradually became the most popular surname here. Coupled with the famous "dam" in the water to the west of the village, the "Zhujiaba" was called open.
? Instead, the name of the old village was gradually forgotten by the villagers.
