After the demise of the Qing Dynasty, why did people still wake in front of the imperial tomb? Who are they?

When Puyi, the last emperor of the Qing Dynasty, abdicated, the abdication agreement signed with the government of the Republic of China included the provisions of the wake, and the responsibility for the care of the imperial tombs of the Qing Dynasty was handed over to the government of the Republic of China. So in the beginning, the government of the Republic of China did send people to guard the imperial tomb.

Subsequently, the situation was turbulent and there were more and more wars. The government of the Republic of China was at sixes and sevens, and it had no mind or energy to spend on guarding the imperial tomb. At this time, Puyi had been driven out of Beijing, and the relationship between the two sides deteriorated. It is not important for the government of the Republic of China to abide by the agreement. In this way, there will be an empty window period, during which no one will guard the mausoleum.

Later, members of the Qing royal family found some ordinary people to alert themselves. These people are not professionals, but temporary workers, who can't play their original role. Before the Qing Dynasty, grave keepers were strictly selected, usually children of the Eight Banners or children with innocent family background, and only after special training could they become grave keepers. The imperial tomb is large in scale. At the peak, more than 3,000 people guarded the tombs in the Qing Dynasty, and an army was properly established.

During the Republic of China, there was a grave robber, Sun Dianying, who stole the imperial tomb of the Qing Dynasty with his men. He also drove away those unprofessional grave keepers. Sun Dianying first blasted the tomb of Cixi with explosives, robbed all the valuable gold and silver treasures, and even stripped Cixi of her clothes. Later, he blasted the tomb of Qianlong, still holding the treasure, taking off his clothes, and finally did not forget to step on Qianlong. At the beginning of Sun Dianying, people from all walks of life went to the Qing Dongling Tomb to rob the tomb, but Puyi was unable to do so.

After that, all the people of the Qing dynasty moved to the village next to the imperial tomb to guard with the local villagers. Today, the imperial tombs of the Qing Dynasty have become a world cultural heritage, and besides these villagers, there are also staff members of national cultural relics protection units guarding them.
