Xiangshan Park, located at No.40, Maimao Street, Haidian District, Beijing, the northwest suburb of Beijing, covers an area of 188 hectares, and is a royal garden with mountain forest characteristics. Xiangfeng, the main peak of the scenic spot, is commonly known as "Ghost Seeing Sorrow", with an altitude of 575 meters.
As early as the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, the royal family built a farewell palace in Xiangshan, where the emperor went hunting and enjoying the cool in summer and autumn. Xianfeng ten years (1860) and Guangxu twenty-six years (1900) were burned down twice by British and French allied forces and Eight-Nation Alliance, and 1956 was turned into People's Park. Xiangshan Park has famous tourist attractions, such as Xiangshan Temple, Hong Guang Temple and Shuangqing Villa.
There are two versions of the name "Xiangshan" in historical documents. The first one comes from the people. It is said that there was a large area of apricot flowers planted on Xiangshan Mountain in the early years. Every year at the flowering stage, the flowers here are rich, hence the name. Second, it is from "Ai 'an Temple in Xiangshan", which says that there is a big stone in the mountain, and its shape is very similar to the incense burner in the temple, so the mountain is named after the stone in the shape of incense burner.
The forest coverage rate of Xiangshan reached 96%. There are many ancient and famous trees, including more than 5800 first-class and second-class ancient trees, accounting for 1/4 of the total number of ancient trees in Beijing suburbs. There are more than one or two Gu Song Cooper 100 plants in Zhisongyuan Scenic Area.
