Banliang Village has a long history. Founded in the late Song Dynasty and early Yuan Dynasty, it flourished in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It has a history of more than 600 years. It is an important market town in Jinling County and a commercial port between Guiyang, Leiyang and Changning.
Banliang is one of the main open source areas for the local surname Liu. More than 600 years ago, Liu Zifang, the younger brother of Emperor Gaozu Liu Bang, the descendant of Wang Chu and the ancestor of Liu Banliang, settled next to the ancient Longquan Temple. Then, the reading sound of Xiacun Banliang private school sounded, and the sound of hooves sounded on the ancient post road in Jinling. Water trade came with Banxi River, and Banliangmen embarked on the road of doing business. With the rise of the first bank in Nakamura, Qingshiban Lane echoed with the crisp sound of copper coins. According to genealogy records, there are more than 400 villages with about 80,000 people who migrated from Banliang. Hundreds of officials lived in dynasties, with rich historical background and numerous legends. It is a typical clan settlement in southern Hunan. Huang Kecheng, the founding general, moved from the Banliang Uprising to the revolutionary road. The awarding ceremony of the fifth batch of famous historical and cultural towns and villages in China was held in Beijing by the national AAA scenic spot and famous historical and cultural villages in Hunan Province 20 10 12 13, National Cultural Heritage Administration and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. Banliang Village, Gaoting Township, Yongxing County, Hunan Province, was awarded the title of "Famous Village of Chinese History and Culture" and was the only unit in Chenzhou City to receive this honor. He Xiaohua, Chairman of Gaoting Township People's Congress in Yongxing County, and Cao, Director and Deputy Director of Yongxing County Cultural Relics Management Office, made a special trip to Beijing to represent Yongxing in the awarding ceremony. According to the spirit of the Notice on Organizing the Declaration of the Fifth Batch of Famous Historical and Cultural Towns and Villages in China jointly issued by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and National Cultural Heritage Administration on May 20, 2009, Yongxing County Cultural Relics Management Office organized a capable business team to dig deep into the historical origin of Banliang Village, and carefully compiled and planned the future of Banliang Village according to the relevant spirit of the document and the requirements of business calculation and planning. The materials were submitted to the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and the expert review group of National Cultural Heritage Administration, which won unanimous praise. .
The whole ancient village covers an area of 3 square kilometers, with the back of Xiangling extending horizontally and built on the mountain. The scale is very grand. In front of the village, the view is wide, the river flows around the village, three ancient temples are arranged in front of the village, the ancient post road passes through the village, and the stone road connects the streets and lanes. There are seven pagodas in front of the village, and there is an ancient stone bridge, temples, pavilions, private schools, commercial streets and money houses in the village. The ancient village has small bridges and flowing water, winding paths leading to secluded places, pagodas, ancient wells and slate roads are cleverly laid out, strange rocks and strange villages are breathtaking, and the rural ancient style is unique.
So far, more than 360 complete historical buildings of Ming and Qing dynasties have been preserved in the ancient village. These ancient houses, which survived thousands of robberies, are carved with beams and painted with cornices. Whether it is its water-milled blue bricks or its brick carvings, stone carvings and wood carvings, the exquisite craftsmanship is amazing. In a word, the ancient village of Banliang contains the patriarchal clan system, Confucian tradition, geomantic conception, philosophical consciousness, architectural skills and ecological principles in ancient China. Known as the largest, best preserved, best feng shui, the deepest cultural heritage, "the first village in southern Hunan."
