In 2006, at the 8th annual meeting of China Sculpture Forum held in Hui 'an, some media interviewed Professor Qian Shaowu, the creator of Flying Welcome, and learned the original intention of the cylindrical city sculpture Flying Welcome.
Professor Qian said at that time that this city sculpture was designed by 1994, symbolizing the cultural exchange between China and foreign countries in Quanzhou, but it was too complicated for many people to understand. In addition, many people have misunderstood it for a long time, and some even think it is the "bird" of Quanzhou people. I feel a little sorry about this.
Speaking of creative inspiration, Professor Qian said that the "flying to welcome guests" of urban sculpture is more accurately "welcoming guests with wonderful sounds". Quanzhou is the starting point of the Maritime Silk Road, and the exchanges between China and foreign countries have been very developed. 1994 While visiting Kaiyuan Temple in Quanzhou, I saw a work explaining the scriptures in the lobby, and 24 flying clouds played around the Buddha. The tour guide said that the flying these days is called "Jialing Pingjia", which means a wonderful bird, praising the merits of Buddha. Careful observation reveals that this actually represents the exchange of Greek culture and China culture. Tian Fei is a god bird in Greek culture and is very popular in Greece. It was carved on bottles and jars and recorded in Homer's epic Odyssey. Alexander brought it to India during the Crusades. However, when it was introduced to Quanzhou, the divine bird stopped singing and played music instead. What's more, it plays the unique Nanyin in Quanzhou, and it is also a Nanyin instrument in its hands. Therefore, it is a very ingenious product of cultural exchange between China and the West.
"When I accepted the invitation to create Quanzhou city sculptures, I invited Miao Yin birds out of Kaiyuan Temple and made a big pillar, on which eight Miao Yin birds were arranged to play and sing. It can best symbolize the characteristics of Quanzhou's communication between China and the West. At the same time, the big pillars give people a feeling of soaring, symbolizing that Quanzhou has been developing upwards. " Professor Qian said. The view that Quanzhou city sculpture "scolds Quanzhou people as birds" is well-founded, but it is extremely absurd and has no historical concept. Quanzhou people can see at a glance that the cylindrical urban sculpture originated from stalagmites on the bank of Jinjiang. Stalagmites are a portrayal of male roots, realistic and exaggerated, and are the remains of Hindu temples. Probably in the Song Dynasty, with a history of thousands of years. It is the product of ancient reproductive worship. There are many reasons why stalagmites have survived to this day, the most important of which is the combination of Hinduism, Fujian-Vietnam witchcraft, geomantic omen and Han geography, that is, the integration of multiculturalism. If we want to identify a national treasure sculpture for China, it is undoubtedly a Huabiao, because it stood in front of the royal palace and mausoleum from the Han and Tang Dynasties to the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and still stands in Tianmen Square today. It is well known that Hua Biao is the product of reproductive worship. Stalagmite 196 1 was announced as the first batch of key protected cultural relics in Fujian Province. As far as its rarity is concerned, it is not an exaggeration to list it as a national key protected cultural relic. Combined with the renovation of Jinjiang, the municipal government built stalagmite park, with stalagmites as the main landscape for tourists to watch. In fact, from the names of bamboo shoots, bamboo shoots, bamboo shoots bridge, bamboo shoots moonlight and so on, stalagmites have always been a scenic spot enjoyed by tourists in the past. Since the China Watch can stand in the solemn Tianmen Square, why can't the city sculpture take stalagmites as one of the prototypes? We can't look at Quanzhou city sculptures from today's erotic perspective, just as we can't measure the ancient people's reproductive worship from today's concept. In the eyes of the ancients, reproductive worship is a solemn and sacred activity, without profanity and pornography. It is an indisputable fact that all nationalities in the world have had reproductive worship, and most of them can find their remains. Many people in China, especially Quanzhou people, keep the custom of ancestor worship. The word "zu" is a cognitive word. "Qi" is like a male root, and "Shi" means "God also", that is, offering sacrifices. From the glyph analysis, ancestor worship is rooted in male root worship, which is proved by many "stone ancestors" and "Tao ancestors" found in archaeological excavations. As early as the Han Dynasty, Confucianism put forward the view that "the great desires of diet, men and women and human beings exist". Later, Engels put forward the theory of "two kinds of production" in "The Origin of Family, Private Ownership and State", which provided a theoretical basis for people to find out the reasons for primitive people's reproductive worship, and there is no need to go into details. As a folk custom, reproductive worship has inheritance and variability, which will not disappear easily with the development of the times and the changes of life, but will be manifested in some places and at some time with great inertia. For example, some infertile women in Quanzhou used to pray or touch stalagmites, which were said to be pregnant. Some shrines in Japan worship male roots. When some grand festivals are held in Kyushu, Shinshu and Nagoya, women will go to temples to burn incense and worship these male roots, and even carry huge male roots and parade with exaggerated male roots. In India, some Hindu temples worship Shiva's "Linga" (male root). The woman presented a handful of petals in front of Linga, closed her hands and touched them again. Needless to say, in the long process of inheritance, the reproductive worship of primitive people will be influenced by the commodity exchange and social fashion of later generations, with some pornographic elements, such as the folk custom of reproductive worship in Japan, among which prostitutes are the most enthusiastic and unrestrained. However, we can't blindly mount tai, deny the history of our ancestors and erase the memories of past lives.
