Step one:
My first step includes the following (generally speaking, you are welcome to share your first step)
I just posted my thoughts and what should be paid attention to in the first negotiation.
Confirm whether the customer really needs the website:
I found that some customers just want e-mail, not websites.
So first of all, make sure whether he really needs a website.
Should I say it to my face or help me with my business?
Talking face to face, sometimes you can even change the design immediately.
Talking about business is different for me, because after talking about business, it is different.
Does the customer have his own marketing plan?
How can a design book be written by a designer? Designers should be options for customers ~
Whether the customer seriously thinks about the' website' depends on whether he has written a report to the boss.
Is it for the website?
Do customers have any special hobbies?
Website feng shui? Accessible website?
Don't understand these special hobbies first, and be careful that the website will be cut after it is done.
How much information has the customer prepared for the website:
Don't believe what customers say,' There is a lot of information and it is complete'.
Because the information to be used on the website is not that simple.
The photos must be taken, and the existing catalogue can't run away.
Products involving health and life safety should have government inspection reports.
It's best not to receive controversial website content (such as advertising leaflets that lose weight immediately after eating 10 kg)
Company profile, department organization, map and contact information are indispensable.
When the customer asks what materials to prepare = not ready to make a website.
None of these, wait until these materials are ready, and then make a website!
Shopping website:
For companies with insufficient budget, it is advisable to go to PCHOME and open a shop with Yahoo.
If the budget is lower, let's play online auction first.
Shopping websites don't mean that things can be sold.
Things can't be sold, even if there is a shopping website.
Things can be sold, even if there is no shopping website.
Website registration, host, email:
Does the customer have his own website? Your own master? Your own email address?
These all involve where to put the website in the future.
Show my work:
Different styles of works make different designers do different things.
Does it take several meters to draw Naruto (can you see it? )
Style doesn't like to feel it from customers' eyes and conversations.
Don't promise' no problem, I can change it to your satisfaction'
If you find that what customers want is not your own style, you can introduce other designers.
Designers should focus on the cases they are good at.
How long does it take on average to complete the manuscript?
When I say finished, I mean the pictures have been sorted out, but the HTML hasn't been done yet.
Just use the drawing software to show the typesetting to the customer first. How long will it take?
Quotation:
The first step is not to quote. I usually only say an interval price range.
Because we haven't seen how much information to deal with, it is impossible to have a correct quotation.
The reference factors of quotation level can be known in advance.
Such as data processing capacity, whether it includes websites, space hosts, mailboxes and so on.
Contract:
You can show it to the other party first, and everyone knows the contract first.
There is no need to sign a contract for the first time, but everyone knows the contract.
It is also important to modify the contract appropriately to meet the actual situation of both parties.
For example, the customer needs a three-month account period ~
Archive:
The first step is a pleasant conversation, but if there is anything wrong, you should put it on record.
If you find that customers have different styles and preferences, you can introduce the designers you know to your customers.
The first step in talking about a case should be "helping customers outsource websites"
So you don't have to do it yourself. You can do wrong for others.
Of course, if you can do it yourself, you will naturally earn more.
Can you make money by introducing others to do it? Opinions vary! )
-
The second step focuses on information, which is an extension of the first step. Let me talk about the extension of the previous step first, and then how to obtain the information in the second step.
If you help customers apply for websites and spaces:
Website application usually takes some time to update the DNS of major ISPs.
Therefore, from application to actual use, the shortest time should be 48 hours, and the longest time may be three to five days.
The website has been applied, remember to put one first? Website design? Web pages, it would be better if you could use email on them.
If there is a customer's email application:
Prepare an application form for email account. The fields only need email account number, user, title and password.
There are often conflicts when using English names as email accounts, so it depends on the situation to give suggestions to customers.
E-mail by extension number (this part is a matter of opinion)
The customer has signed the contract, and there is still one missing?
Schedule and payment terms comparison table? :
A simpler way to write it is to pay in three stages (or more), and the standards for each stage can be finalized by both parties. Another way of writing is to take your own progress as the progress, which may be from drafting, proofreading, finalizing, designing drafts to web pages, data simulation, online testing, and modifying web pages. Don't list too detailed, especially list some work items that customers can't understand, such as: PSD to CSS HTML.
Note: I threw a comparison table to netizens a few years ago, but I have been in contact with website design for too long. The file is not in my computer. Please let others have a look!
The second part focuses on what information to ask, but it will be a little different because of different customers. I'll try my best to tell everything I know, so that everyone can share their experiences.
Where does the basic information come from:
Business cards (ask for more business cards, it will be easier to find someone later, or find someone to help you find someone)
Commercial Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (check the establishment and basic information of company registration)
Customer has passed ISO certification:
First-class documents must be brought, because ISO first-class regulations require general information such as company introduction, development and evolution, organization chart, mission and vision.
Company photo:
No matter what method you use, you should take some photos of the company's facade, office and factory.
If the quality of the photos given by the customer is really not good, my conscience suggests that he find a photographer to take them!
Otherwise, you can shoot it yourself.
Product catalog and description:
The existing directory cannot be missing.
Regardless of the new and old products, as long as there is a catalogue, take one.
If the product manual has been designed, there are usually some designed charts, graphs and diagrams on it.
If you can use it, you can save a lot of brains.
Service introduction:
Some customers do not produce products, but provide services.
See if the customer has a briefing on its business (usually the business will make one by itself)
Or is it? Company introduction documents for interviewing employees? Some companies will directly take the ISO first-order interview.
Teaching plan and examination questions:
I have contacted the teacher's website. Basically, I will type out examination questions and teaching plans on the computer. Remember to have one.
There are some exceptions, such as mathematics (the equation editor is difficult to use).
If there are no documents, take a blank test paper and scan it (the same is true for the answer sheet)
Machines and equipment DM:
Some industries will use special mechanical equipment, such as X-ray machines, tool microscopes, tensile testing machines, automatic balers and so on. It may be related to quality control and factory affairs. Find out the model and manufacturer of machinery and equipment, and get a copy of DM of machinery and equipment. Equipment that is in disrepair is dirty no matter how you shoot it. Use the photos on DM. )
Group photo of employees:
The company will have a company tour more or less, and there will be a group photo when there is a tour.
Companies with uniforms usually take a group photo when changing uniforms.
No uniform, no travel. There should always be a tail tooth or spring rod.
Don't take fewer photos of the dinner party (don't use drunk and crazy photos)
Customer's favorite website:
Peer websites are usually reference standards, so don't forget to collect peer website references.
Do it again? Boss? Favorite website
Not collecting? Manager? Chief. Director? Favorite websites, because the style of these websites may not be liked by the boss.
Leave FTP account password or burn CD:
If the amount of data is too large, it is necessary to teach customers to use FTP.
If you don't want to use FTP, you should at least be able to burn CDs.
The customer will burn the information into a CD and then inform you to pick it up.
Registered trademark:
There should be a trademark registration certificate issued by the Intellectual Property Office of the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
Never, never listen to customers? Say it without proof? Already registered
A registered trademark must be scanned and redrawn if there is no file.
Don't beautify registered trademarks.
Contact information of branches, franchisees and branches:
Information from the head office alone is not enough. The contact information on the website should include the information of all branches.
So remember to get a copy of the address, phone number, simple map, store manager, branch contact person, etc. Some customers agree to complete this information in the form of a list, and some customers want to combine the map of Taiwan Province. Please remember to ask the customer what way to play, and don't play by yourself.
Make good use of network maps:
It's not enough to have an address. Sometimes you have to draw a map for the customer and put it on the website.
But some customers don't like maps, so ask clearly before drawing, so as not to be busy in vain.
Explain why you need this information:
Some customers really don't know what information to put on the website. When you put forward a lot of information in front, he may ask you why, so you must do your part. Because sometimes we think we need this information, but customers don't think so. It is safer to ask.
Information list request:
Only when you are targeting a specific customer group, the data list will help you receive and unify the data quickly. I once helped a group of teachers build their own websites. In order to save trouble, I will make a list of the materials to be provided on the teacher's website to avoid explaining them every time.
Special requirements of customers:
Continue with the first step. When customers have special requirements, these requirements should also be clearly recorded.
What is the specific color, specific font and accessibility certification level?
Sign a contract to start construction:
The first time I didn't sign the contract, the second thing was to remember to sign the contract and get the deposit.
The work has already started. Without a deposit, it is difficult to start.
Especially works that need to be outsourced in advance (illustration, animation, etc. )
My third step is to hand in the stick and explain to JennyWang what to pay attention to when doing the case.
JennyWang, please do your best.
The third part focuses on the implementation of production and progress feedback.
Of course, how to design the website is your own business. Don't think that after reading the third step, you will design it!
There are many ways to realize production. Find one that you think is the most cost-effective and efficient:
100% Do it yourself: the most tiring but also the most direct response to customer needs.
50% for designers: if you have a design draft, you can change not only HTML, but also drawings.
80% to the designer: you may not get the design draft, such as PSD file, and you can only change HTML at most.
100% to the designer: As long as the communication work is done well and the designer is not provoked, the case can probably be closed smoothly.
What do you want from designers?
I think this must be explained in advance. Don't send the case to others, it will bring trouble to both sides.
If you need to use CSS well, please tell the designer in advance. Some designers are still used to typesetting with tables.
If you need to design a manuscript, whether the font should be converted into bitmap must also be mentioned in advance.
Whether PSD files need to be cut into HTML first will also affect the later progress.
Some manuscripts provided by designers need to be opened with designated software.
Please learn more about the software used by designers. If you don't have the corresponding software, you can't change it.
Even PHOTOSHOP and FIREWORKS can eat PSD files.
But the results after opening the two are likely to be different (need to be adjusted).
Did the designer provide the specified font?
The reason for this is that designers are likely to spend a lot of money to buy a bunch of glyphs or send them by software.
You just don't have these glyphs, and it will be very troublesome to change the design yourself!
It is also important to determine in advance whether the fonts in the manuscript have been converted into pictures or curves.
Sometimes, you may need to change the text yourself to prevent the font from being converted into curves or drawings.
Provide templates for customers:
It must be explained to the customer first, because the samples can be sold repeatedly.
Of course, there are also some sample websites willing to sell to you, and the cost will be higher.
Whether you do it yourself or a designer, get a demo website for your customers first:
Customers usually want to know the current work progress. I am used to simply cutting PSD into HTML and putting it on the demo website. I may make more demo pages, which are full of false information. Another purpose of the demo website is to review. When you reach this stage, remember to arrange a time to explain it to the customer, and then bring back the customer's opinions as the basis for modifying the design.
Don't make false information too false;
Because the photos and other materials have been obtained in the second step, it is reasonable to say that the photos on the DEMO website should be real photos, but the description of the photos does not necessarily take time to type, just find an English webpage copy &; Paste will do. My habit is to use photos of customers, and the part of the article is more casual. In addition to the correct photos, the contact information and company name on the demo website will also be used correctly.
How to test a demo page?
I will test whether the layout will deviate when there is more information.
The results of browsing by different browsers
When you resize the browser text, the layout changes.
When there is no information, the layout changes.
Is there a browser error message?
The speed of opening websites and changing pages (DW shows the time spent downloading web pages for reference)
If you adopt the way of division of labor and cooperation, please pay attention to the progress
Basically, for the job you hand over, you must ask' when can you give it to me'.
Otherwise, things may not fall.
Another thing that will delay time is to collect customer opinions for designers.
Some business people will judge for themselves which ideas are feasible and which are not.
When I met the business representatives of Guangdong and Guangxi, the designer was probably the first to die.
What opinion is feasible?
I'll try to explain, because it's all based on experience.
For example, designers can only put down five items in the width of the page, and customers require nearly a dozen options, so designers can only redesign them. Unless the designer thinks it doesn't matter, he can insert it.
Animation is more difficult, and the designers who cooperate with it must have skills to do it, so don't just promise the customers that the animation part is ok.
Tools for reporting progress:
E-mail should be the most effective. If you have time to send content, you will save a lot of saliva.
The call was good, but there was no record. In case there are too many people, you will be tired.
Instant messages from MSN or YAHOO to customers.
In principle, the contact tools used by customers shall prevail, and the recorded tools shall be preferred.
Frequency of reporting progress:
Instead, you don't have to pay back every time you finish a web page, which will be unbearable for customers.
You can report once a day, and try to send out the progress before 3 pm, and the customer will take it away before work.
In addition, it is more efficient to return according to the schedule date.
Return content:
Basically, it's what you've done, what you haven't done.
When reporting progress, try to mention complete people, events, time, place and events.
For example, if you contact the designer Mr. Chen at two o'clock in the afternoon, you may need to go to the designer's house to get the CD (Taichung Railway Station).
How to pause the progress?
When you encounter something difficult to do, or you simply can't understand the meaning expressed by customers' emails or phone calls.
Please inform the designer immediately, suspend the design, and make an appointment with the customer to further confirm the demand and feasibility before continuing.
At the same time?
I usually explain in advance that' the website is something that both parties should work together'
So I will hand over some work to customers, such as taking photos and typing company profiles.
So when I or my designer is busy designing, customers are busy typing and taking pictures.
The advantage of letting customers do it together is to maintain the website in the future, and customers know what to do.
