Related to the Imperial Tombs of the Western Han Dynasty

The tombs in all the tombs of the Western Han Dynasty are all located to the east of the imperial mausoleum, and the tombs in Changling are the largest. Among the tombs buried in Maoling are the famous tombs of Wei Qing and Huo Qubing. These imperial mausoleums, together with the accompanying tombs of the emperor's relatives, powerful ministers and princes, stretch for hundreds of miles from east to west. Just as an ancient poem goes: "The high tower of Changling is here to make peace with the Liu family, and there are numerous burials for all the princes." Changling began to build mausoleums. After the Han Dynasty established its capital in Chang'an, it moved all the famous officials and meritorious officials from Qi and Chu to Changling. Since then, the families of high-ranking officials and wealthy people were often moved to various mausoleums, and powerful wealthy families were controlled in Chang'an in order to consolidate the rule of the Han Dynasty. Emperor Yongguang of the Han Dynasty issued an edict in the fourth year of Yongguang (40 BC) to abandon the construction of mausoleums. Forced immigration bankrupted the people and caused social unrest. The establishment of mausoleums was no longer effective in consolidating the political power, so the abolition of mausoleums began in Weiling. Lingyi.
