Luofengpo is located about 2 kilometers next to Pangtong Temple in Baimaguan Town, Luojiang District, Deyang City, Sichuan Province.
Luofengpo is the place where Pang Tong died in battle as described in the novel "The Romance of the Three Kingdoms". Now it is the terminal of the newly restored ancient post road, with rural houses on both sides. It is a good place for guarding and ambush. The scenery here is beautiful, the climate is mild, and the people are simple.
Nowadays tourists rarely come to Luofengpo after visiting Pang Tong’s tomb. It is located in Baimaguan Town, Deyang City, Sichuan Province. There is a famous scenic spot there - Pang Tong Temple, which was built to commemorate Pang Tong's death on the battlefield. It is said that Uncle Liu Huang personally selected the cemetery for Pang Tong, and it is a geomantic treasure.
Pang Tong and Luofengpo
Pang Tong, courtesy name Shiyuan, was from Xiangyang, known as Mr. Fengzhi, and was as famous as Wolong Zhuge Liang. Liu Bei regarded Pang Tong as his military advisor, and his trust in him was only lower than that of Zhuge Liang. Later, he followed Liu Bei to Shu. When Liu Bei met with Liu Zhang, he urged Liu Bei to replace Liu Zhang as the King of Hanzhong, but Liu Bei refused for various reasons.
After Liu Zhang returned to Chengdu, Pang Tong persuaded Liu Bei to attack Chengdu again. This time Liu Bei followed Pang Tong's plan and set off for Chengdu. Unfortunately, Pang Tong ambushed Luofengpo on the way to Luocheng (today's Guanghan area of ??Deyang). He was hit by a stray arrow and died of his injuries. He was only 36 years old when he died.
The Romance of the Three Kingdoms wrote about this passage: "It is said that Pang Tong was meandering forward. When he looked up, he saw two mountains narrowing each other, and there were many trees. It was late summer and early autumn, and the branches and leaves were lush. Pang Tong was very suspicious and restrained himself. The horse asked: "Where is this place?" A few days later there was a newly-resigned sergeant who pointed out: "The name of this place is Luofengpo." "
Pang Tong was shocked and said: "My Taoist name is Feng Chu, and the name of this place is Luofeng Slope, which is not good for me. "He ordered the rear army to retreat quickly. He only heard the sound of cannons in front of the hillside, and arrows were like locusts. He only expected people on white horses to shoot them. Poor Pang Tong died under random arrows. He was only thirty-six years old."
