The Cultural Accumulation of Daming Mountain in Guangxi

The area from Matou to Liangjiang is also a "mineral-rich area" of Zhuang history and culture. This area is a rainy area where Daming Mountain blocks the formation of the Pacific monsoon. Abundant rain washed the soil on Daming Mountain to the valley at the foot of the mountain and deposited it into a fan-shaped valley plain. These valley plains have fertile land and convenient irrigation, which became the earliest farming and rice planting areas of Zhuang ancestors. According to the research of Zheng, a famous archaeologist in Guangxi, the earliest Fang State of Zhuang nationality was born in this area. The famous Yuanlongpo site and Andengyang site are located in the piedmont plain. In this area, historical and cultural precipitation and geographical precipitation are surprisingly coincident.

At the foot of Daming Mountain in Matou Township, there are temples of Zhuang and Shang Dynasties and ancient streets of Zhuang nationality. Strangely, in the valley of Longtou Mountain, there is a historic site called "Xianwei", which echoes the street at the foot of the mountain. According to the Records of Wuming County, the most revered place in Daming Mountain is Tukou, overlooking the vast expanse. Reaching the summit, the peaks are opposite. There are Shiping No.1, Shidun No.8 and Shizao No.7 in the ravine. The dust is not enough, the moss is not sealed, and the surrounding tea trees are ancient and abnormal, so-called fairy taste. " This "fairy market" may be the place where the ancients went up the mountain to offer sacrifices.

There is a magical grass called "Yuanyang Grass" on Daming Mountain in Zhuang folklore. As long as a man carries this grass, a girl will follow him like a demon. It is said that "Yuanyangcao" looks like a mimosa, and it will swing like a dance as long as it touches its branches and leaves. It is unknown whether "Yuanyangcao" can make the girl chase her like a demon, but it does make many men around Daming Mountain enter the mountain like a demon to look for this mysterious herb, and one ridiculous story after another has happened.

Among many rare animals, heron is the favorite of Zhuang compatriots in Daming Mountain area. Legend has it that when the ancestors of the ancient Zhuang people developed Daming Mountain, the forest here covered the sky and could not see the land and water. Later, it was the sound of herons that guided the ancestors of Zhuang nationality to find water and cultivated land, so the ancestors of Zhuang nationality settled in Daming Mountain area. In order to commemorate the contribution of heron birds to the ancestors of Zhuang nationality, the ancestors of Zhuang nationality cast heron bird patterns on bronze drums as sacrificial mascots, and called the earliest settlement Luwo. (Heron's name in Zhuang language is Luwo)

At the same time, their most taboo animal is the flying tiger (called Du Bang in Zhuang language), which looks like a squirrel and its scientific name is flying squirrel. Flying tigers have skin-like wings under their arms and can slide on mountains or forests. Although the flying tiger looks cute, its sound is really weird, just like the screams when people are killed. Legend has it that flying tigers will die wherever they fly to villages, so they are regarded as disasters by Zhuang compatriots and generally avoid them. This custom invisibly protects this rare animal, the Flying Tiger, and makes Daming Mountain the area with the largest number of flying tigers in Guangxi.
