Growing habits:
Born in mountain streams or sparse forests, 260- 1600 meters above sea level. Alsophila spinulosa is a semi-shady tree species, which likes warm and humid climate and grows under forests or by valleys in central alluvial soil.
It can be cultivated in mountainous areas, dam areas and courtyards with a temperature of 5-35℃.
It can be planted in the ground, potted or barrel, but the relative humidity is high.
This kind of plant likes to grow in the sunny place near the wet slopes of canyons and streams. Ten or hundreds of plants form dominant communities, and some are scattered in the bushes at the forest edge.
Alsophila spinulosa is widely distributed in China, from north latitude 18.5-30.5.
The northernmost record is Linshui County, Sichuan Province, which is located in the east of Sichuan Basin and belongs to subtropical humid monsoon climate. Due to the influence of topography, the climate is about 2-4℃ higher than that in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River at the same latitude, with the characteristics of warm winter, dry spring, hot summer, autumn rain, high humidity, cloudy amount, less sunshine and obvious dry and wet seasons. Most of the soil is acidic.
