Meijiang water conservancy project

Large water conservancy projects include Meijiang Reservoir, Luoan River Reservoir, Yongle Reservoir, Wanli Reservoir, etc.

Meijiang Reservoir, formerly known as Liangfengdong Reservoir, is a project mainly for irrigation, with comprehensive benefits such as flood control, power generation, and breeding. It is located in the upper reaches of the Meijiang River in the northeast of Meitan County, 35 kilometers away from the county. The watershed area above the dam site is 208 square kilometers. The water-retaining structure is a mortar masonry gravity dam. The maximum dam height is 33.3 meters, with a total storage capacity of 21.5 million cubic meters and an effective storage capacity of 11.8 million cubic meters. The total length of the canal is 262.65 kilometers, including 2.5 kilometers of the main canal, 37.5 kilometers of the east main canal, 40 kilometers of the west main canal, and a total length of 182.65 kilometers of branch canals. The designed irrigation area is 57,100 acres, and the effective irrigation area is 48,500 acres. In addition to irrigation, the project also has three generators installed behind the dam, with a total installed capacity of 750 kilowatts and an average annual power generation of 1.5 million kilowatt hours. The project started on March 10, 1958 and was completed in 1965.

Wanli Reservoir is located in Zhengchang Town, Suiyang County, 2.5 kilometers away from Zhengchang Town and 8.4 kilometers away from Xinzhou Town, Zunyi County. It is a reservoir that spans Suiyang and Zunyi counties and is mainly used for agricultural irrigation. It is a small-scale water storage project that also takes into account flood control. The watershed area above the dam site is 13.67 square kilometers. Ground was broken in 1957, and the canal was completed in April 1958. A homogeneous earth dam was built with a height of 20.5 meters and a water storage of 4.2 million cubic meters; 38 kilometers of main and branch canals; 2 wooden aqueducts with a length of 200 meters and more than 6,000 acres of irrigated farmland.

Luoanjiang Reservoir is located in Xinzhou Town, Zunyi County. Construction started in 1957 and a regulating reservoir was formed in 1979. It has a total storage capacity of 4.29 million cubic meters and a designed irrigation area of ??22,400 acres. The effective irrigation area is 15,500 acres, and the project was supplemented twice in 1980 and 1987.

Yongle Reservoir, with a dam height of 48 meters, is located in Yongle Town, Zunyi County. The designed dam height of the project is 57.4 meters, with a water storage of 6.67 million cubic meters and a main canal of 6.9 kilometers. Construction officially started in September 1973. By the end of 1998, it was still an unfinished acceptance project. The project's designed irrigation area is 18,800 acres, and the effective irrigation area is 10,000 acres.
