Robert Wray, a professor at Wollongong University in New South Wales and an expert on sandstone landforms, said: Compared with several other regions that have applied for World Natural Heritage nominations, the Danxia landform in Chishui is similar or even more prominent. We should immediately consider applying Chishui as another representative of China's Danxia landform series to the World Natural Heritage, otherwise it will be a great loss for China's natural heritage to protect its peculiar and important landforms.
Even though I don't want to use the word "primitive simplicity", Eli Hamilton-Smith, chairman of the IUCN (World Conservation Union) karst and cave protection management group and a professor at Charles University in Australia, said that most areas of Chishui Danxia are worthy of this word-from the ecological and geological point of view, Chishui Danxia may be more complete than some existing world heritage sites.
Paul. W.Williams, a professor of geography at the University of Auckland and a world-famous karst expert, said: Danxia in Chishui is a magnificent and beautiful land, which provides habitats for some large endangered mammals, especially big cats; This area is suitable to become an important national park and will make an important contribution to the nomination of China's Danxia series.
Chris wood, a British expert of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, believes that the landform types of Danxia in Chishui are influenced by the uplift of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and the downward cutting of rivers, forming deep valleys and many waterfalls different from other nominated sites. The waterfalls in any other nominated place are not as big and spectacular as Chishui.
Paul dingwall, a New Zealand expert, said: All these characteristics can judge and highlight that Chishui nomination site has characteristics that other nomination sites do not have. These typical and remarkable features are helpful for Chishui to gain a special position in the application for the world natural heritage of China's Danxia series. Therefore, Chishui is a unique and important part of China's Danxia series of world natural heritage nominations.
Experts believe that according to the United Nations World Heritage Convention and the Guidelines for the Implementation of the World Heritage Convention, Chishui Danxia meets the four criteria of world heritage: first, it is a wonderful natural phenomenon or has rare natural beauty; Second, outstanding examples of important stages in the history of earth evolution, including records of life and geological processes or remarkable geomorphological features in geomorphological evolution; Thirdly, it emphasizes the ecological processes that have evolved and are evolving in terrestrial and freshwater biological systems and animal and plant communities; Fourthly, the most important natural habitats protected by biodiversity in situ include endangered species habitats with outstanding universal value from the perspective of science and protection.
On June 23rd, 2009, with the approval of the State Council, "China Danxia" was officially submitted to the Paris Headquarters of UNESCO World Heritage Center as an application project for the World Heritage List in China on 20 10. On March 2nd, the World Heritage Center reviewed and officially accepted the "China Danxia" World Natural Heritage Declaration Project.
