Hydrological characteristics of He Ying

Heying River, the largest tributary of Huaihe River, has a total area of 39,880 square kilometers, accounting for about 18. 1% of the total area of Huaihe River. Henan province covers an area of 34,440 square kilometers, including 9,070 square kilometers in mountainous areas, 5,370 square kilometers in hills and 20,000 square kilometers in plains.

Shahe, Heying, Beiru and Fenquan rivers are rich in runoff. The annual average natural runoff of He Ying Liwan Station is 695 million cubic meters, that of Shahe Luohe Station is 2.86 billion cubic meters, that of Beiruhe Xiangcheng Station is 999 million cubic meters, that of Quanhe Shenqiu Station is 523 million cubic meters, and that of Sha Ying Zhoukou Station is 4.09 billion cubic meters. The interannual variation of runoff is greater than that of Huaihe River and its south rivers, and less than that of the Wohe River and Tuotuo River in northeast Henan. The ratio of annual maximum and minimum runoff (k) is generally between 10 ~ 15, and only Quanhe River, Xincai River and Heihe River have larger values. The coefficient of variation (Cv value) of annual river runoff is generally around 0.6, and Heihe River and Xincai River reach 0.9 and 0.94 respectively. Runoff is unevenly distributed during the year, and the average runoff from June to September in flood season can account for more than 60% of the annual average runoff. In the whole Sha Ying River Basin, floods were very serious in the past, with an average annual affected area of about 5 million mu, of which 1954, 1956, 1963 and 1975 were the most serious, with the affected area exceeding 1000 mu. After the "75.8" flood, the dikes on both sides of the river were completely repaired, heightened and strengthened, and the flood control standards of all rivers were generally improved.

Among these tributaries, Yinghe River is the most seriously affected. The upstream inflow flood peak is large, the river is not ventilated enough, the tributaries are blocked, and the slope water can't enter the river, and the main stream is backed by Shahe. The Liupo and Songgang areas of Meigong Canal, the Pingning and Daochi areas of Qingfei River, and the Xia Ningzhuang and Taocheng areas of Liuqinghe River are very serious. After years of continuous rectification, the situation has changed.
