Zeng Guofan was buried in Houfu Longshan, Tongxi Temple, Changsha, Hunan after his death. This is the place he chose before his death. This place can be said to be a treasure trove of feng shui. Zeng Guofan himself believed in Feng Shui. His tomb is relatively simple, mainly made of granite, except that there is a white stone tablet on the back of the tomb, on which 22 characters are written: the tomb of Mrs. Ouyang, a great doctor in Huang Qing.
According to legend, in the eleventh year of Tongzhi, one day Zeng Guofan was walking outside and suddenly felt uncomfortable and a little numb. When he got home, he couldn't speak. His illness became more and more serious and he died soon. Later, people buried him with Mrs Ouyang. Because of Zeng Guofan's special status, his family once entrusted a villager to guard Zeng Guofan's tomb and bought him a piece of land near the cemetery, so that he could make a living by farming. Zeng Guofan's graveyard is not accessible to anyone. Grazing people, beggars and people with five senses are not allowed in, but I don't know when the grave keeper disappeared.
Zeng Guofan's tomb was destroyed in 1950s, and 1980 was stolen by grave robbers. At that time, some villagers said that the tomb often made a lot of noise, so archaeologists came to find out. When the archaeologists arrived, they found a hole, but it was so small that only thin people could go in. When the archaeologist went in, the people waiting outside found that the rope tied to them did not move.
Although Zeng Guofan's tomb was damaged, it was not damaged much, except for an extra hole. In order to prevent the grave robbers from coming again, it was decided to seal the tomb permanently.
