It is our ancient etiquette for the emperor to drive six. Emperor-class six-horse-drawn two-horse carriage, that is, the famous "emperor drives six."

The emperor drives six, and the rest of the auxiliary cars drive four. According to the Book Case, six horses were conquered with rotten ropes. Yi Li's "Wang Du Ji" said: "The emperor drives six, the princes drive five, the Qing drives four, the doctor three, the scholar two, and Shu Ren one."

From June 5438 to October 2002 10, when Luoyang was building the city center square, the remains of chariots and horses in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty were discovered in the archaeological area of10.6 million square meters, and 18 chariots and horses were excavated successively, one of which was 42 meters long and 7.2 meters wide. Because a relic of six horses driving was cleared from the inside, it confirmed the saying in ancient literature that "the son of heaven drove six horses", which attracted worldwide attention. After extensively soliciting the opinions of cultural relics experts and all walks of life, and obtaining the approval of National Cultural Heritage Administration, Luoyang City implemented scientific backfill protection for small and medium-sized Chemakeng in 2003, focusing on properly formulating the protection scheme for the large Chemakeng site of "Emperor Jialiu", setting up a special cultural relics protection institution, approving 3 full-time protection personnel, and investing more than RMB 12 million, and building a brand-new site museum to show the world. The fully-built Museum of Six Drivers of the Emperor is located in the center of Luoyang Wangcheng Square, covering an area of 1.200 square meters, with a sunken structure. There are two main exhibition areas in the museum, namely, Tian Zi Jia Liu Che Ma Hang Exhibition Hall and Zhou Dynasty Fine Cultural Relics Exhibition Hall. Among them, a large-scale video media system was added to the corner of the Chemakeng exhibition hall, and pictures of fine cultural relics excavated by Zhou Wangcheng were hung on the inner wall of the corridor, which had a strong exhibition effect.

From the end of July, 2002 to March, 2003, Luoyang Cultural Relics Team discovered a large Eastern Zhou cemetery and a number of chariots and horses during the first phase construction of downtown square. During the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, more than 30,000 square meters, more than 600 tombs and 29 chariots and horses pits were dug. Among them, No.5 Chemakeng in Central District is the most prominent. The pit is 42.6 meters long and 7.4 meters wide, with 26 cars buried and 70 horses left behind, which is rare in China. The pit is roughly in the north-south direction, and the cars are placed vertically in two columns. The No.2 car in the Western School is a six-horse-drawn car, which conforms to the description of "the son of heaven drives six" in the literature, and embodies the supremacy of the owner of the buried tomb and the unusual position of this cemetery.

The above findings provide important clues for further exploring the location of tombs and the layout of royal cities in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, and provide rich materials for studying the layout of family cemeteries in the same period.

After extensively soliciting the opinions of cultural relics experts and all walks of life, and obtaining the approval of National Cultural Heritage Administration, Luoyang implemented scientific backfill protection for small and medium-sized Chemakeng in 2003, focusing on properly formulating the protection plan for the large Chemakeng site of "Emperor Jia Liu", setting up a special cultural relics protection institution, and approving full-time protection personnel 13. The municipal party committee and municipal government revised the square construction plan, relying on the "Emperor Driving Six" chariots and horses pit, and built this special museum of Eastern Zhou Dynasty.

The whole museum covers an area of 1700 square meters and is located in Wangcheng Square, which is divided into two exhibition areas. The first exhibition area is the relationship between the five capital cities of Luoyang and contemporary Luoyang, the general situation of the imperial city of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, the excavation and discovery of tombs, and the precious cultural relics of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty; The second exhibition area is the large Chemakeng exhibition area in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty. Here are two of the 17 chariots and horses pits excavated and cleaned by archaeologists in 2002-2003. In addition to horses and chariots, there are martyrs. The historical scene is still in sight, and it is the only original painting display of "Emperor Driving Six" in China.
