Did Guo Ziyi really get hacked to death?

After Guo Ziyi's death, he was not hacked to death. Only the emperor listened to Mr. Feng Shui and dug his ancestral grave. As for what descendants were implicated in the nine imperial families, what descendants were killed does not exist and is totally untrue.

In the second year of Tang Jianzhong (78 1), he died and was given the gift of "loyalty to the martial arts". He was buried in Jianling, posthumous title.

In the third year of the founding of the Tang Dynasty (782), etiquette made Yan Zhenqing suggest to Tang Dezong that 64 ancient famous soldiers should be posthumously sealed and temples should be set up for them to drink, including the sentence "Qiu Zhongshu ordered his father, Guo Ziyi Guo Ziyi".

In the fifth year of Xuanhe in the Northern Song Dynasty (1 123), according to the practice of the Tang Dynasty, the Song Dynasty built a shrine for ancient famous soldiers, including Guo Ziyi.

Historical evaluation

In the war to quell the Anshi Rebellion, Guo Ziyi commanded or participated in the major battles such as the battle to conquer the counties in Hebei, the battle to recover the two capitals, and the battle of Yecheng. After the Anshi Rebellion, he planned to retreat to Tubo and return to Chang 'an. Persuade Uighur to defeat Tubo again; Pacify the rebels, pacify Hedong. He served in the army all his life and made outstanding achievements.

History books call him "rebuilding the royal family, honoring the older generation" and "being a man who has lived in the world for twenty years". Guo Ziyi is not only good at martial arts, but also good at observing, thinking and dealing with problems from a political perspective. He is both civil and military, honest and intelligent, so he can make great contributions in the complicated battlefield at that time and save himself in the sinister officialdom.
