When Huang Chao was in Huizhou, he personally went to Tonghu to station troops. The legend of Huang Chao's lighting military parade is still circulating in Tonghu today, which is evidenced by a very unique spectacle "Huang Chao's platoon and formation": the previous Tonghu was a typical waterlogged depression.
Every year after the dragon boat rain, Tonghu Lake will be full. A few nights before the flood, dazzling lights will appear on the water surface east of the lake center at night. One, two, countless lights will be hung on the waves in rows and strings.
Shine for miles on the water and then disappear. People always think that it is the legendary Huang Chao soldier. Huang Chao also visited Boluo Shiwan to inspect the troops. At that time, the soldiers piled many high mounds to practice climbing the city wall.
There is also the place name of Huang Chao Pier in Shiwan, which is said to be the relic of that year. Huang Chao also moved to Gongzhuang to stay. Gongzhuang has the place name of Tianziling, and even there is a statue of Huang Chao in the hole under the oxtail stone of Wei Zi, an otter in the town east.
2. Hang a red light on the fifteenth day of the first month.
At the end of the Tang Dynasty, Huang Chao led the rebel army northward to attack Huncheng, but the siege lasted for three days. Huang Chao sneaked into the city to find out, and was saved by an old man. The old man also told Huang Chao how to attack the city. Huang Chao was very moved and said, "Old man, do you have any red paper at home?"
The old man said, "there is no ready-made, but you can buy it in the store." Huang Chao said, "You buy some red paper, tie a lantern and hang it on the eaves on the fifteenth day of the first month." After Huang Chao left, the old man passed the news to his neighbors, and soon all the poor people in the city knew about it.
Every household buys red paper lanterns. Huang Chao returned to the camp and immediately called the soldiers to discuss. On the fifteenth night of the first month of the Gregorian calendar, he took 5,000 chosen men, touched the moat, and quietly entered the city according to the road pointed out by the old man. With a bugle call, he was attacked from inside and outside and soon broke through the city gate.
The rebels have entered the city! At this time, the poor people hung red lights at their doorsteps, and the whole city was brightly lit. All the doors with red lanterns are closed to the insurgents; When the red light didn't hang, the insurgents rushed in to catch corrupt officials and old money, and killed all corrupt officials, local tyrants and evil gentry in just one night.
The next day, Huang Chao opened a warehouse to distribute food, and sent someone to send two hundred and twenty pieces of silver to the old man. Since then, every household has hung a red light on the fifteenth day of the first month. This custom has been handed down.
3. Surrender and rebellion
Huang Chao's military forces in Jiangxi were destroyed by Gao Pian, the town navy division; The military forces that attacked Xinzheng, Tancheng, Xiangcheng and Yangzhai were beaten back by Cui; Those in western Zhejiang were beaten by Pei Kun, our ambassador to western Zhejiang, and many people died.
Huang Chao was very depressed, but he visited Tian Ping's army and begged for surrender, and ordered Huang Chao to be the right general. Huang Chao's evaluation of the buffer region is different, lacking self-control and rebellious. In August, Huang Chao army attacked Xuanzhou, and Gao Pian sent generals Zhang Kui and Liang Yong to attack Nanling grass thieves.
Defeated them, the grass army Qin Yan, Bi Shiduo and others surrendered one after another. So the grass army re-entered eastern Zhejiang and captured Cui Wei, the secretariat of Yuezhou. Huang Chao led troops through Jiangxi, echoed Wang Chong of Kibaki, and attacked Guizhou, Hebei, Rao, Xin and other states.
In December of the fifth year of Ganfu (878), the peasant army went through Wuzhou to Quzhou, split the mountain to clear the way, and opened the 700-mile mountain road to Jianzhou (now Jian 'ou, Fujian). Into Fuzhou (now Fujian).
Observation made Wei Yao invincible, abandoned the city and fled, and the peasant army entered Fujian. After the peasant army entered Fujian, it burned and killed officials. Burning houses kills people like hemp. March of six years.
At the beginning, there was a rumor in the army: "If you meet a Confucian, you will kill him and the army will die." After Huang Chao entered Fujian, all prisoners who claimed to be Confucian explained everything without asking.
When the grass army passed in front of Pu Huang, the headmaster of Chongwen Museum, it ordered, "This is a scholar's house. Put out the torch, don't burn it. " When you find it, ask him, "Can you follow me?"
Zhou Pu replied, "I'm not an official yet. How can I be a thief? " Huang Chao killed Zhou Puyuan in a rage. At that time, all the states in Fujian fell, and the court appointed Gao Pian as the commander-in-chief of each camp against grass thieves.
4. Occupy Luoyang
In September, the insurgents crossed the Huaihe River. Huang Chao claimed to be "General Tu" and led his troops to March from the north of Huaihe River. He didn't rob property, but only drove the able-bodied soldiers away.
After the rebels captured Shenzhou (governing Xinyang), they marched into Ying, Song, Xu, Yan and other states. Wherever they went, officials fled. When the rebels crossed the Huaihe River in the north, when the Prime Minister Dou Luxun asked to appoint Huang Chao as our balance, he sent his troops to get rid of him when he arrived in the town.
Xie Lu, another prime minister, insisted that as long as he sent troops to defend Sizhou, the rebels would not be able to enter the customs and would plunder Jianghuai, and there was nothing he could do. Soon the rebels went north, and the Huai River was in an emergency. Lu Xie was ashamed to admit his illness. The capital is also full of fear.
In November, when the rebel army entered Ruzhou (ruling Ruzhou), Huang Chao said to the loyalist, "You should guard the fort and don't be my pioneer! I will go to Du Dong, and I will go to Beijing. I have to blame myself, many people didn't participate. "
At this time, the court was in chaos. Some people advocate that all the town soldiers in the pass be sent out to guard Tongguan, and the big eunuch Tian also invited two Shence army crossbowmen to guard the pass.
Some people think that there are 600,000 rebels, and Tongguan is hard to hold without heavy troops. However, Nozong decided to let Tian lead his troops to defend Tongguan. 1 1 month 17, Huang Chao's army arrived at the gates of Luoyang.
Tang Xuanzong sent Chick to retreat to Tongguan, and Liu, who stayed in the east, led the branch officer out of the city to welcome Huang Chao into the city. The rebels are disciplined, but only "the market is natural after eating."
5. Closing the mountain
When Huang Chao led the rebel army into Jiangxi, he came to Tongbai Mountain, which is a mountain with lush vegetation, complex terrain and steep mountains.
The forest and grass are deep and concealed, which is an ideal hiding place for the rebel army in past dynasties. Therefore, Huang Chao chose Tongboshan as the "supply station" and "logistics hospital" for military supplies.
The wounded on the battlefield can have a good rest in this quiet place, recover quickly and rejoin the battle. Therefore, Tongbo Mountain plays an important role in Huang Chao's army.
