Changping District is high in the northwest and low in the southeast, with Dujun Mountain in the north and Beijing City in the south. The mountain area is 800 meters to 1000 meters above sea level, and the plain is 30 meters to 100 meters above sea level. 60% of the area is mountainous and 40% is plain. There are two national forest parks, which are the birthplace of Wenyu River, the mother river of Beijing.
Mentougou District is located in the mountainous area where the North China Plain transits to the Mongolian Plateau. Dongling Mountain, the highest peak in Beijing, is 2303 meters above sea level. The elevation of Baihua Mountain, the second peak in China, is 199 1 m.
