There are no rules for orthodoxy. Shunzhi began to build the Dongling Tomb, and it did not stipulate that future emperors of the Qing Dynasty must bury the Dongling Tomb to be considered orthodox. Furthermore, Emperor Yongzheng Yinzhen did not want to be buried in the Dongling Tomb. Firstly, it is related to the water seepage in the Dongling area. Secondly, Emperor Yongzheng may not really want to sleep in the same place as Emperor Kangxi.
In fact, at the beginning, Emperor Yongzheng Yinzhen chose the site for his mausoleum in Dongling. It was located on Jiufeng Chaoyang Mountain in Dongling. However, not long after, Yinzhen directly denied this. A mausoleum site.
The reason for moving the mausoleum is recorded in the "History of Engineering": Emperor Yongzheng clearly stated when he abolished the Jiufeng Chaoyangshan mausoleum site: "This place is close to Xiaoling and Jingling, and it is consistent with my original intention and proficiency." The people in Kanyu further considered it and thought that although the scale was large, the shape was not complete, and the soil in the cave was filled with sand and gravel, making it unusable. ?
This record is very clear. Emperor Yongzheng did not plan to choose another mausoleum site at the beginning. He also planned to find an auspicious land behind him within the scope of the Qingdong Tomb, and chose Qingdong. Jiufeng Chaoyang Mountain is located in the Jiufeng Chaoyang Mountain of the mausoleum. However, during the on-site investigation, it was found that the terrain was incomplete and the soil contained a large amount of sand and gravel, which caused heavy water seepage, making it unsuitable for building a mausoleum.
In the end, Yinxiang, Prince of Heshuoyi, personally re-selected the site of the mausoleum and found Yongning Mountain in Yi County. Yinxiang called this place the place where the universe gathers beauty, with dragon caves, sand and water, and beautiful scenery. To regulate qi, Zhu Ji is ready? Yongzheng was very satisfied and believed that the Yongning Mountain area was auspicious soil, so he decided to build his own Tailing Mausoleum here to form the Western Mausoleum of the Qing Dynasty.
In the process of selecting the mausoleum, the requirements for the soil quality of the mausoleum acupoints, that is, the underground palace where the coffin is placed, are very strict. The soil is fine but not loose, oily but not dry, and bright but not dark. , and also weigh the soil. A bucket of soil weighing six or seven kilograms is considered bad luck, eight or nine kilograms is good luck, and more than ten kilograms is good luck. This can be used to infer the compactness of the soil and the bearing capacity of the foundation.
The Yongning Mountain area that Yinxiang and Gao Qizhuo finally selected is the best Feng Shui treasure land. Compared with the Eastern Tombs of the Qing Dynasty, the conditions of the Western Tombs of the Qing Dynasty are indeed much better than them in all aspects. Ancient emperors wanted to choose a geomantic treasure land for their death. The place with water seepage was naturally not suitable for building a mausoleum. Moreover, Jiufeng Chaoyang Mountain was full of sand and gravel, so it was indeed not suitable for construction. It was reasonable for Emperor Yongzheng to choose another mausoleum site.
However, some people have raised questions. The Dongling Tomb of the Qing Dynasty is very large. It is not just Jiufeng Chaoyang Mountain that can build imperial mausoleums. Even if it is not suitable here, it does not mean that there are no other mausoleums in the Dongling Tomb area. As a geomantic treasure land, why didn’t Emperor Yongzheng choose another place within the Dongling Tomb instead of the Xiling? Obviously there are other reasons.
However, this cannot be said, because the facts have proved that Emperor Yongzheng’s considerations were very prescient. Qianlong’s Yuling Mausoleum cost a lot of money and went through many twists and turns, but the result is still serious water seepage. The current Yuling Mausoleum is like an underground building. It is like a Dragon Palace, but during the Daoguang period, a mausoleum was originally built in the Dongling Tomb. However, water seepage occurred again, so the burial was moved to the Xiling Tomb.
Furthermore, Emperor Yongzheng did not initially intend to break the Zhaomu system in which sons were buried with their fathers and inherited by their ancestors, because Emperor Yongzheng himself originally wanted to choose the site for the mausoleum in Dongling, but it was just that He gave up due to force majeure and chose Xiling. Although people today think that Emperor Yongzheng was buried in Xiling because he might be avoiding Dongling's father, this was not necessarily the case at the time. Yizhou and Zunhua Prefecture are very close to the capital. They live together in Jifu and are parallel to Shenzhou. They are not far away in fact. ?In the eyes of people at that time, the distance between Yongning Mountain in Yi County and the Qing Dong Tomb was not too far, and this was also in accordance with ancient methods. And although the two places are in opposite directions, the distance from the Forbidden City is still 125 kilometers, and the error is extremely small.
