The Development of the Memorial Hall and Museum of the Sino-Japanese War in Liu Gongdao

In the 14th year of Guangxu (1888), beiyang fleet was formally established, and the Beiyang Navy was established, with Ding Ren as the prefect and nearly 50 ships. In the 20th year of Guangxu (1894), the Sino-Japanese Sino-Japanese War of 1894 broke out. On September 17, beiyang fleet and the Japanese joint fleet fought a decisive battle in the Yellow Sea outside the mouth of the Yalu River, and Deng Shichang, the captain of Zhiyuan Ship, died heroically. 1895 65438+1October 20th, the Japanese army laid siege to Ahava by land and water, and beiyang fleet fought fiercely with the Japanese army off the coast of Liu Gongdao for several days. Beiyang Navy House, also known as Navy House, is located in the west of central Liu Gongdao, facing the sea by mountains and facing south. The building is an open single-storey lifting frame with brick and wood structure. There are three halls along the central axis, with 68 rooms on both sides, and the corridors in front of the rooms are connected. Zhou built a fence, covering an area of about 13900 square meters. The inscription "Navy House" on the main entrance was written by Li Hongzhang. There are left and right turrets and east and west iron gates in front of the door, which is the playground of the ceremony. There is a two-story watchtower in the southwest. From south to north, the main hall is the etiquette hall, the prefect hall and the sacrifice hall, and the wing is the general, the lieutenant, the foreign academic affairs office, the reception office and the civil and military duty room. Erjin Hospital has an underground water storage tank with a volume of about 300 cubic meters. Set up two open wellheads and cover them with iron covers.

The memorial sites of the Sino-Japanese War include Dinggong Temple, Naval Academy, Tiedun, Shimashima Fort and Nijima Fort.
