Datong is a national coal energy base, with Tongmei Group, one of the world's top 500 enterprises, nine ancient capitals, the capital of Northern Wei Dynasty and a sub-provincial city in Shanxi Province. It is located in the northernmost part of Shanxi Province and was called Yunzhong, Pingcheng and Daijing in ancient times.
