Legend of the Yellow Crane Tower

The origin of the name of the Yellow Crane Tower, some people say that it was originally built on yellow pheasant alum and connected with cranes, because alum is famous. Interestingly, there is a folklore that the original name of the Yellow Crane Tower is Xin Hug. It is said that a man named Xin opened a pub in this beautiful place of Huanggu Alum.

He is kind-hearted and does a good job in business. One day, Xin warmly received a Taoist priest in rags, and received nothing for several days. One day, the Taoist priest drank wine and was in high spirits. He drew a yellow crane on the wall. Then, as soon as he clapped his hands, the yellow crane came alive and flew to the wine table to spread his wings and dance. Taoist priest told Xin that the purpose of painting Yellow Crane was to attract business and dance for him in return for Xin's kindness.

Xin made a fortune and built a pavilion on the yellow chicken with the money earned by 10 to commemorate the kind Taoist priest and the magical yellow crane. At first, people called it "Xin's Tower". Later, thinking of its commemorative significance, they enshrined the Taoist priest in the building and renamed it "Yellow Crane Tower".

The Yellow Crane Tower is located at the top of Wuchang Snake Mountain on the south bank of the Yangtze River in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, close to the Yangtze River. It is a national 5A-level tourist attraction, and has been known as "the first building in the world" and "the first scenery in the world" since ancient times. The Yellow Crane Tower is a landmark building in Wuhan, and it is also called "the three famous places of interest in Wuhan" with Qingchuan Pavilion and Guqintai.

The Yellow Crane Tower was built in the Three Kingdoms Period in the second year of Wu (AD 223). During the Three Kingdoms period, it was just a "military building" in the corner of Xiakou City. After the Jin Dynasty destroyed Dongwu, the three countries were unified. At the same time, the building lost its military value, and with the development of Jiangxia city, it gradually evolved into an ornamental building for officials and businessmen.
