First of all, Zhangguying Village is located at the foot of Weidong Mountain in Yueyang City, Hunan Province. Zhangguying Village has a long history and has existed for more than 600 years. Because of its huge building scale, it has basically remained in its original state for more than 600 years. At present, there are more than 1700 buildings, more than 600 households and more than 2,000 people. It is known as the first village in the world. During the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty, a Jiangxi man named Zhang walked westward along the Mufu Mountain in Hunan to Weidong. Seeing that it is surrounded by mountains and forms the Weidong basin, and the surrounding environment of Weidong is beautiful, he has the idea of settling in Weidong. Coincidentally, Zhang is a geomantic gentleman. After a geomantic survey, Zhang chose a geomantic treasure and began to build a large number of houses here, so the village was named after Zhang.
Then, because of the beauty of architectural art, Zhangguying Village got the reputation of the folk Forbidden City. The architectural feature of Zhangguying Village is a conjoined architectural form with the central axis as the design concept. In other words, every household is connected, which is consistent with the architectural style of the Forbidden City. Overlooking Zhangguying Village from a height, the village is crescent-shaped at the foot of Weidong Mountain, backed by Weidong Mountain, with Weihe River in front of it, forming a moat. There are two large ponds on both sides of the gate, which are used for fire prevention and symbolize dzi. There is also a winding Weixi River that runs through the village. In the village 1000, more than 0,000 houses connected by walls and sandalwood crisscross the Weixi River, forming a pattern of opening the door into the water. A corridor paved with bluestone slabs is built beside the stream, which can connect all the residents along the way. There are beams and partitions engraved with Tai Chi pictures under the eaves, and festive patterns such as magpies and plum blossoms are engraved on the screens and windows.
Finally, Zhangguying Village, an ancient architectural complex of Ming and Qing Dynasties with complete architectural style in the south of the Yangtze River, has become one of the key tourist attractions in Hunan because of its reputation as the Forbidden City and the first village in the world.
