Characteristics of Longkou Artificial Island

Offshore is a major feature of Longkou artificial island group. Abandoning the traditional practice of "coastal reclamation" and leaving the coast to build artificial islands in the sea is precisely to protect the natural coastline and "minimize" the loss of marine ecology.

It is understood that the project basically does not occupy the natural coastline, and all the beaches and shelterbelts in the planning area are reserved. The newly formed artificial deepwater coastline is 57.8km, which is close to the existing natural coastline in Longkou City. At the same time, in order to keep the water system of Longkou Bay transparent, it is planned to reserve two main waterways with a width of 550-600 meters in the southwest and northeast, and two auxiliary waterways with a width of 200-300 meters in the northwest and southeast to realize the smooth hydrodynamic environment of Longkou Bay. After completion, the island and land will be connected by 15 bridge, forming an ecological island city by Longkou Bay.
