Meili Snow Mountain, also known as Prince of Snow Mountain, is located between Nujiang River and Lancang River in the middle section of Hengduan Mountain, about 10 km northeast of Deqin County, Yunnan Province. There are 13 peaks with an average elevation of more than 6000 meters, which are called "Prince Thirteen Peaks". Kavalpo, the main peak, is the highest peak in Yunnan. 1908, French Magee Davis used the title of "Meili Snow Mountain" for the first time in his book Yunnan. In fact, Meili Snow Mountain refers to a small mountain range in the north of Prince Snow Mountain, not Prince Thirteen Peak where Kawagebo is located. That small mountain range is called Meili Snow Mountain locally, so a village at the foot of the mountain is also called Meilishui (or Meilishi). The real main peak of Meili Snow Mountain is Sayila Zenggui Cotton Fabric, which is 5229 meters above sea level. This error mainly comes from the national geodesy in China in the 1960s and 1970s. At that time, a survey team of the People's Liberation Army arrived in Deqin. In the process of communicating with local people, Prince Snow Mountain where Kawagebo is located was mistakenly recorded as Meili Snow Mountain, and it was also marked after the map was drawn. Since then, Prince Snow Mountain has become Meili Snow Mountain, and this name has completely overshadowed Kawagebo, one of the four sacred mountains of Tibetan Buddhism. Bogda Peak is 5445 meters above sea level, located at 88.3 degrees east longitude and 43.8 degrees north latitude. Located in Fukang County, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, it is a famous mountain in the East Tianshan Mountains.
Although the altitude of Bogda Peak is not amazing, it is not unusual to climb it. In the east-west direction of the main peak, there are seven peaks over 5000 meters respectively. Bogda Peak is steep, with the west and south slopes of 70-80 degrees, and only the northeast slope is slightly gentle. Therefore, although the peak was climbed by British and former Soviet mountaineering teams before 1980, it was not until June 9, 198 1 that the Japanese Kyoto team began to climb the peak. Bogda Peak consists of three peaks side by side. It is covered with snow all year round and is called "Xue Hai".
