The Rongguiwen Pagoda was built in the 59th year of Qianlong's reign in the Qing Dynasty (AD 1794). More than ten years ago, it was still an isolated pagoda, standing alone in the wilderness and rarely visited. The place is overgrown with weeds, infested with snakes and insects, and is desolate. From Ronggui to Wenta, you have to pass through the secluded stele pavilion, and then pass through the sugarcane forest cemetery. It is very inconvenient to walk. Guizhou Wenta is located in Ronggui Town, Shunde. The name "Guizhou Wenta" is the name in the "Construction" chapter of the county annals, but its construction materials and age are not recorded. During the on-site inspection, judging from the building structure, materials and French style, it belongs to the Qing Dynasty architecture.
The front of the tower faces east, the tower body is hexagonal, each corner wall is 4.1 meters wide, with a total of seven floors and a total height of about 42 meters. There are inscriptions on the stone caps on each floor in the front direction. The first floor is engraved with "Flying out of the Qingxiao Qi", the second floor is "Xiu Jia Shi Yang" (note: the tower is in the south of Shishan in Guizhou) and the third floor is "Jukui Pavilion". ", the fourth floor is "Title Office", the fifth floor is "Han Gao Xia", the sixth floor is "Feng Ming", and the seventh floor is "Lingzhao", without any recognition. According to the book, it includes five categories: regular script, cursive script, seal script, and official script. It is said to be written by Hu Jun. Hu Jun is from Guizhou. During the Qianlong Guizi period (1792) of the Qing Dynasty, he was admitted as a deputy tribute student. If this is true, it can be evidence of the age when the tower was built.
The tower is a loft-style brick and wood structure. The brick construction method of the tower has a special feature. Every five rows change a style. At first, it is one horizontal and one straight, then two straight and one horizontal, to three straight, one horizontal, and four straight. One horizontal, five straight and one horizontal. It is an isolated example of the brick-laying method of ancient pagodas existing in our county.
The Guizhou Wen Tower was renovated in 1989. Due to strict construction according to the principles of ancient building renovation, the tower's simplicity, elegance and bright colors were restored. In order to effectively protect the ancient pagoda, land was requisitioned around the ancient pagoda and turned into a small park. It was surrounded by brick walls and had a pavilion and water closet inside. A four-column archway to the sky was built at the main entrance, which is spectacular. In May 1991, the tower was designated as a county-level cultural relic protection unit.
