I once traveled to Heluo and climbed Mangshan Mountain. I was amazed at the wonderful figure in the mountains and rivers. Think of it as an article about Mangshan Mountain, but the common things are complicated, never written, and often ashamed. Today, the style of writing is unbearable, and there is elegance in vulgarity.
1, geographical overview:
Mangshan Mountain is located in Luoyang City, Henan Province, also known as North Mangshan Mountain. It is located on the south bank of the Yellow River, north of Luoshui, belonging to the residual vein of Qinling Mountains and the branch vein of hills, with an altitude of about 300 meters. Mangshan is divided into broad sense and narrow sense. The generalized Mangshan Mountain starts from Luoyang in the north and flows near Zhengzhou along the south bank of the Yellow River, with a total length of nearly 100 km.
Mangshan in a narrow sense only refers to the loess hilly area along the Yellow River and Luoshui watershed in northern Luoyang. Cui Yunfeng, the main peak, is named after the towering ancient trees and lush clouds. Located in Luobei, the two rivers, Yi and Luo, have a panoramic view, so there is a "night view of Mangshan" and the geographical position is superior. It is an ideal burial place for emperors of past dynasties, and the number of ancient tombs is amazing.
2. The origin of the name:
It is said that Mangshan's name comes from a myth and legend. In ancient times, a Taoist priest took two disciples to practice in a fairy cave. When the Taoist priest caught a python from the East China Sea, he told his disciples to put it in a cauldron, boiling it in water and adding firewood. One day, the Taoist priest went out to meet friends, and his disciples were curious about the food in the world, so they agreed to go down the mountain to play, so they filled the pot with water and added a lot of firewood.
They went down to play. When they came home at night, they saw that the fire had gone out and the water in the pot had been drained by the python. They looked east, and the python swam in the direction of the East China Sea, leaving a yellow waterway where it passed. The disciples immediately chased after him, but they didn't catch up after a day and a night. They were annoyed to watch the python escape into the East China Sea.
The Taoist priest arrived and said, "You set the python free as a disaster, so stay here and guard the waterway!" " Later, the disciple turned into a mountain called Zhui Mang Mountain. Later, the locals thought it was not good to chase Mangshan, so they changed their name to Beimangshan. This is the origin of Mangshan Mountain in folklore.
3, feng shui and religion:
There is a saying in Luoyang, "Born in Suzhou and Hangzhou, died in Beimang Mountain". This means that Beimang Mountain is an ideal place to bury bones in the eyes of the ancients. It is located in the north of Luoyang, with the Yellow River at its head and Luoshui loess hilly area at its back. The terrain is higher than the Yellow River, and Luoshui is about150m, with a length of 30km from east to west and a width of 16 from north to south.
In ancient times, the trees here were lush, the scenery was beautiful, and it was buried very high, and Errol's victory was panoramic. Therefore, there is a poem saying that "there is little idle soil on the North Mangshan Mountain, and it is full of Luoyang people's old graves". Superior geographical conditions fully meet the requirements of ancient geomantic omen, for the burial of dignitaries, Lv Buwei in the Qin Dynasty, Chen Houzhu in the Southern Dynasty, Li Houzhu in the Southern Dynasty, Sima family in the Western Jin Dynasty, Emperor Guangwu of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Emperor Xiandi of the Han Dynasty, Du Fu and other emperors and celebrities all died here!
There are thousands of ancient tombs, and a museum of ancient tombs has been built. It is also an important place for Taoism. According to legend, Laozi, the ancestor of Taoism, once made an alchemy in Cuiyun Mountain, and later generations built Taoist shrines such as Shangqing Palace and Lv Zu Temple.
4. Strategic position:
Mangshan Mountain is located in the north of Luoyang City, which is an important natural barrier for Luoyang City to resist the enemies in the north. It is near the Yellow River, and the north of Luoyang is almost safe. There have been many wars here in history, the battle of Luoyang in the Eastern Wei and Western Wei Dynasties, and the battle of Luoyang in the Northern Zhou and Northern Qi Dynasties. The winner has all occupied the geographical advantage of Mangshan, and it can almost be said that the winner of Mangshan won Luoyang.
Even in the modern War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression period, the Kuomintang troops occupied the Mangshan terrain in the face of the great superiority of the Japanese army, which dealt a heavy blow to the Japanese army. The strategic advantage of Mangshan can be seen.
