An ancient tomb was discovered near the Longfeng Bridge on West Lake in Fushun County, Zigong City. At present, the area near the ancient tomb at the construction site has been sealed off, and relevant departments are trying to start archaeological surveys early next week. The Cultural Relics Section of the Zigong City Culture, Radio, Television, Press and Publication Bureau received reports from the public that family tombs of the Aqing Dynasty were discovered during the construction of the Fuxi River Basin Ecological Corridor Demonstration Project. After receiving the response, the Cultural Relics Section immediately organized archaeological experts to go to the site to conduct archaeological exploration.
At the construction site, I saw that the ancient tomb was located on a sloping bank and was buried under thick soil before being excavated. At the scene, we can already see a stone building similar to a tomb door, with images of a suspected dragon and unknown beasts engraved on it, which look lifelike. The stone carvings in the center and left side of the tomb door are intact, and the appearance of the stone carvings can be clearly seen.
Villers who participated in the excavation told reporters. In a small "brick coffin" in the bottom row of the excavation site, the reporter found the skeleton of a suspected child. The bones are small and appear incomplete. Apart from this, the other "brick coffins" are all empty, and it cannot be ruled out that they were transferred by archaeologists. The reservoir will hold water and the tomb site will be flooded, so protective excavation will be carried out.
Du Guoyin said. He said that the first possibility is that there used to be two temples nearby, so it might be the burial place of monks and they were buried here after their death. The second possibility is that there are mass burials here. It is possible that the Feng Shui here is very good, attracting wealthy people to be buried with them, and the monks do things for them here. Nothing about the tomb has been revealed. The third type is a mass burial place for anonymous poor people, collected by monks and buried here. The fourth possibility is a family burial. Du Guoyin said. According to people familiar with the matter, the "brick coffins" at the scene were not rich and wealthy, and most of them were neatly arranged. It was more likely that they were buried together by families and collected together.
According to the relevant person in charge of the Fushun County Cultural Relics Bureau, in the afternoon of the same day, experts at the city and county levels and heads of relevant departments rushed to the site to conduct inspections and communication with the owners and construction parties. We are still coordinating relevant matters and aiming to start the archaeological survey early next week.
