Wu Ming was formerly known as Wu Yuan. Wuyuan Qin belonged to Xiang County, and Wuyuan County was established in the first year of Kaihuang in the Sui Dynasty (581 AD). Over 1300 years ago, in 1913, Lu Rongting, the governor of Guangxi who claimed to be "famous in the world for his martial arts", renamed Wuyuan County "Wuming County".
According to historical records, in the sixth year of Daoguang's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1826), Li Yanzhang, the governor of Si'en Prefecture, approved Wuyuan County Magistrate Shen Jifu's request to build a pagoda and ordered him to "supervise and supervise its affairs." Therefore, people in Wuyi enthusiastically promoted its success. In September of the eighth year of Daoguang's reign (1828), a magnificent seven-level pagoda stood on the bank of the Wuming River.
Why did the magistrate of Wuyuan County and the people of Wuyi build such a tower? There is a saying in it.
The 68-kilometer-long Daming Mountain is located at the junction of Binyang, Shanglin, Mashan and Wuming counties. The main peak, Longtoushan, is 1,760 meters above sea level, majestic and steep. Daming Mountain is also called "Moshan Mountain".镆铓, the name of the ancient sword. It is said that the martial arts under the shadow of the sword belongs to the land of dragons and tigers, where warriors emerge in large numbers but literati are rare. The ancients built the Wenjiang Tower at the confluence of the east and west rivers, intending to block the power of the dragon and tiger and protect and revitalize Wuyi's literary style. However, such a move is pure nonsense. How can a mere tower shadow deprive the god of creation? After that, Wu Yi still had "warriors emerging in large numbers", which showed that even though Wenjiang Tower pointed its sword at the blue sky and controlled the key points of the Three Rivers, it could not stop the "destiny" of "Wu".
More than 20 years after the completion of Wenjiang Tower, in the third year of Xianfeng (1853), the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom’s famous generals Lin Fengxiang, Marquis of Jinghu, and Li Kaifang, Marquis of Dinghu, led the Northern Expedition. It lasted two years, fighting in several provinces in North China, and came to the outskirts of Tianjin. Emperor Xianfeng was so frightened that he prepared to flee north to Rehe. These two people are the Jiujiu warriors among the disciples of the Wuyuan Zhuang family. At the beginning of the last century, Lu Rongting, who served as the governor of Guangxi and was awarded the rank of Army General, the patrol envoy to Guangdong and Guangdong, the governor of Guangdong, and the marshal of the Guangzhou military government, was also a Zhuang nationality in Xiong Village, Wuminglei. And Lu Shaowu, who climbed snow-capped mountains and crossed grasslands, fought in both north and south for the cause of people's liberation, served as commander of the Guangxi Military Region, and ranked among the founding generals of the Republic of China, was also the son of a Zhuang farmer from Matou Town, Wuming.
Wu Yuan has been full of literary spirit since ancient times
When walking into Wenjiang Tower, there are many poems in the tower, which is full of literary spirit. There are poems praising it:
The tower rises steeply and soars into the misty sky.
The air contains zodiac purple, and the light is blue.
One city is beautiful and beautiful, and two rivers are beautiful.
The king becomes a strong pen, and the mountains shine brightly on the king.
What the poet means is that Wenjiang Tower is like a giant pen waving the sky, with extraordinary momentum. With the influence of such a beautiful environment, we will definitely be able to cultivate outstanding "gentlemen" (talents). In fact, although there were many warriors in Wu Yuan, there were also many literati and bachelors who left their names in history, such as Liu Dingyou, Li Bi and so on.
Liu Dingyao, named Lingxi, is from Geyang Village in Wuyuan and belongs to the Zhuang ethnic group. In the ninth year of Qianlong's reign in the Qing Dynasty, 24-year-old Liu Dingyao passed the Guangxi Provincial Examination and ranked first in Xieyuan. At the age of 28, he passed the Jinshi examination and became an editor of the Hanlin Academy. Later Liu Dingyao gave up his official career and taught apprenticeships, and successively served as a lecturer at Xunyang Academy in Xuchuan and Xiufeng Academy in Guilin. He wrote quite a lot, including several volumes such as "Lectures on the Four Books" and "Collected Works of Lingxi". He was quite influential at that time and was the best among the talented scholars in martial arts.
Li Bi, a native of Wu Yuanqin Licun, was a member of the Ministry of Household Affairs in Nanjing during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty. He has many collections of works such as "Jiange Collection" and "Famous Confucian Records" handed down to the world. He was also a famous literati scholar in the Ming Dynasty.
