Introduction to the Book of Changes (II) —— How does Fuxi draw eight diagrams?

Fu Xishi's "looking up at the sky" means looking up at the sky. So, what's in the sky? There are the sun, the moon and the stars. The ancients believed that heaven and man were one, and the sky was related to what happened in our world. Therefore, by observing the astronomical phenomena, we can predict what will happen on the earth.

In addition to looking up at the sky, we should also look down at the ground, "looking down at the ground." So, what's on the ground? There are mountains and rivers, flowers and trees, birds and animals, and so on. Observing the sky and the earth is a macroscopic observation of things. This is not enough, but also microscopic observation, so we should "watch birds and beasts."

So, what's on birds and beasts? It has texture. Some animals have vivid textures, such as zebras and peacocks, and their stripes are very striking. "Stop at the right place", what has grown in all regions? Different areas have different soil and water and climate characteristics, which are suitable for growing different plants and different animals.

After observing these, Fu summed them up by analogy, so as to understand the universe, nature and the objective world in which we live. So, how to compare images with classes?

"Get close to the body" and extract things that are very close to us. As far as our own body is concerned, there are external parts, such as human facial features and limbs; There are hidden parts, such as the internal organs.

"Taking things far away" means extracting things that are relatively far away from us, such as birds and beasts on the ground, lightning and thunder in the air, the sun, the moon and the stars in the sky, and so on.

"So the gossip began", based on the macro and micro observation of all things in nature, established the foundation of creating gossip, so Fuxi painted gossip.
