The watchtower consists of Jinjiang Li Village watchtower, Village watchtower, Majianglong watchtower and Denglou. There are about 1833 watchtowers in Kaiping, which is a valuable cultural heritage in China.
At present, the most well-preserved and luxurious watchtower in Kaiping is Shiming Tower in Gigi Lai Village, Tangkou Town. The natural environment here is beautiful, and ponds, lotus ponds, rice fields and bamboo forests are scattered among them, which are in harmony with the scattered towers.
Shiminglou was built in 1925, and complete furniture and daily necessities are still preserved in the diaolou, which is a historical witness of overseas Chinese culture at that time. In the watchtower, all the things are still the same as before. Here, you will find yourself so close to history. Shi Ming Building is six stories high. The first floor is a hall, the second to fourth floors are halls, the fifth floor is a place of sacrifice, and the sixth floor is a wide platform. There are 9 screens in the hatchback of the hall, inlaid with dark blue glass. The glass is covered with calligraphy and painting written by famous artists, and the whole hall is filled with thick books. There is a marble table with an exotic chandelier in the middle of the hall. The whole hall is exquisite in workmanship, unique in style, colorful and magnificent. Walking up the stairs, I visited the living room from the second floor to the fourth floor. I saw the bedroom antique and exquisite workmanship. Standing in the pavilion on the top platform, the breeze is blowing head-on, and it feels very comfortable. Leaning against the railing and overlooking the endless fields, beautiful ponds are rippling, and green bamboo forests and winding paths are covered with towers with unique shapes. If you are still in Woye, you will feel comfortable physically and mentally.
The watchtower is like a dazzling gem, shining on the beautiful and rich land of Kaiping.
