Updated at 10.30: Oil pastel and colored lead illustrations--AUTUMN (full of useful information and videos)
I haven’t updated it for a long time, but I have been drawing. This picture was taken a month ago Illustrations with the theme of autumn, without further ado, I will post the main picture, video and process~
The picture size is A3, using Canson 1557 colored lead paper, cherry blossom oil pastels, and Honghui water soluble.
A quick 2-minute video
Not counting the time for conception and line drawing, this painting took more than 8 hours and was reduced to 2 minutes.
01. Pencil Draft
The formal pencil draft will be lighter, so I put a transfer draft using copy paper.
02. Here is a coloring technique, which is to apply the light color first. If I start coloring from the eyes first, the first thing to apply is the whites of the eyes and the highlights of the eyeballs. In fact, these two parts do not need to be white. , but oil pastels can easily smudge the picture when painting. If you are not careful, the white paper will be stained by shavings. If you lay down a layer of color first, if the color is stained later, you can use a blade to pick it away for easy cleaning. And shape. Before applying pure white, check the pen tip to see if there are any variegated colors. If so, find a piece of white paper and turn the pen tip to remove the variegated colors before adding color.
Next, I used a flesh-colored oil pastel to paint the skin color. After using it, I felt that the hardcover flesh color was more saturated, easier to color, and had less crumbs. The flesh color of the plain yellow box felt better on paper than the hardcover painting. It's a bit thin, so I won't talk about the crumbs, but the thin yellow box can still be used to draw small parts, so I usually use hardcover for skin tones, and plain cover for the rest, so the flesh color is the shortest in my entire hardcover. When painting skin color, be careful to avoid the eyes, mouth and hair that we will paint later, because oil pastels will become dirty and greasy if mixed accidentally, so before painting, you must think about the effect of the next step or even ten steps. When I painted here, the fingers were also flesh-colored, but in order to avoid drawing too early and not being able to distinguish the boundary between the face and the hands later, I placed the fingers and arms at the back before laying out the color.
Then use a black oil pastel to mark the position of the pupil. From here on, I use a plain yellow box. After marking the pupil position, use light brown color on the black edge, and then use dark brown to paint. Complete the outline of the eyeballs. When drawing, pay attention to changing the angle of the pen tip at any time and try to use the side peak to draw within the scope of the pencil line drawing. After laying out the eyeball color, use dark brown to draw the eyebrows. Then use dark brown colored pencil to outline the upper eyeliner and eyeballs, then clearly draw the outline of the highlight part of the eyeballs, and then draw the eyelashes. When drawing, put a paper towel or white paper under your hand. In fact, it will bring in various colors of crumbs, so it is better to put it on the hand.
Next, use a big red oil pastel to color the lips. When painting, use a tapping method to draw small red lips. On the cheeks, lightly draw the approximate location. Later, I will use a plain flesh color to mix colors, which will produce a healthy and bright skin tone. Then I will paint the tip of the nose red, and the white part will be a fallen leaf falling on the nose. Then use the flesh color of the yellow box and click to mix the color evenly.
I then use bright red color pencil to draw the lower eyelids and corners of the eyes, outline the lower part of the nose, and then lightly draw on the coating of the oil pastel to make a transition, so the color pencil can draw On the oil pastel, then draw the double eyelids. Use the bright red color to deepen the shadow of the eyelids. The stroke should still be light, otherwise the oil pastel drawn before will be scraped away. Then outline the mouth shape and add lip color. Deepen it, then trim the outline of the eyebrows and fill in the dark parts of the mouth.
03. Then we started to color the hair. I used hardcover oil pastels here. Because the hair area is large, I used thick ones to color. The color used is actually the same as the color of the eyes. , dark brown and light brown, the corresponding colors in hardcover are called dark brown and ripe ocher. When drawing hair, you should draw it according to the trend of the hair in the previous pencil sketch. Use a light color for the light-receiving surface and a dark color for the shadow part, or mix the two colors. When mixing the colors, the order of the dark and light colors is different, and the hair strands are outlined. The background color will also be different, you can feel it yourself. Also, you need to have a sense of the overall situation when painting. The strong coverage of oil pastels will make you feel that the colors are confusing later on.
The colors used for the leaves are olive green and dark olive. The leaves are divided into two halves. The tips of the leaves are dotted with red, because the leaves start to turn red in autumn. When painting, you should pay attention to the front and back of the leaves. Relationship, after laying out the general body color, use red to highlight the small red fruits between the leaves.
Isn’t my painting table hin fresh and fresh~
05. The plant part is not completed at one time. Next, I started to hook the hair part, using homemade wood. Pen. When it comes to drawing lines, you can actually use pins, toothpicks, utility knives, or pens that can’t write colors. You can choose according to the thickness of the line and ease of use. Personally, I think using pins or toothpicks is a bit difficult for your fingers to work for a long time. It was hard work, so I made my own wooden pen. How to make this? I just use a disposable chopstick pencil sharpener to roll it, and then use a utility knife to cut the thickness and then it can be used. When drawing hair strands, first draw the outline of each hair strand, and then divide the hair strands into small pieces inside, so that the drawing will not be messy, from large to small and then to each hair strand. There will be a lot of crumbs when hooking, so be sure to clean them up in time, otherwise the accumulation will make the picture more dirty. Because soiling is inevitable, we can only reduce the coloring of crumbs to the greatest extent.
After finishing the hairline, I started to use colored pencils to repair the details, which is to repair the rough edges and smooth them. The color used is the same or similar to the hair color of the oil pastel. Retouching details means cleaning the edges and distinguishing the relationship between the front, rear, left, and right objects. When drawing hair, you can add more while trimming, and make adjustments according to the effect of the picture. Painting this part requires a lot of patience, so it's okay to take your time, but don't be impatient.
Next, I used a light gray oil pastel to color the gray cat. I used a mixture of pink and white oil pastels to paint the pads on the cat’s paws. Then I used a light brown oil pastel to draw stripes and then painted them with gray. Mix and prepare for the cat hair behind. Then put the cat here, and I started to draw the lower part of the painting, which is the part of the clothes and plants. I first colored the pomegranate leaves on the clothes, and painted them in royal blue. In autumn, pomegranates bear fruit in autumn, and then Draw the leaves in the lower right corner in the same way as the left. Remember to add some red fruits after drawing.
Then use a wooden pen to draw the cat hair in the direction of growth. Then notice that there are two plants on the back of the cat’s head. When drawing, pay attention to using colors to distinguish the relationship between the front and back. The details can be filled in with colored pencils later. This is how I treated some of the red fruits on the arms. I first scraped off the coating with a wooden pen. , and then paint it with red, which can reduce the greasiness caused by color mixing. Then draw the remaining plants and fruits here at the cat's tail. Then color the pomegranate fruit and draw the details of some plants in the lower left corner. The so-called detail drawing is to use colored pencils to smooth the outline and distinguish the front-to-back relationship between the arm and the plant, and the front-to-back relationship between the hair and the plant. When necessary, use a utility knife to scrape off excess coating, and use a wooden pen to outline the veins of the leaves.
Then we drew the little bee with a helpless expression. We first used oil pastels to draw the base, and then used black, brown and blue to draw the bee’s stripes, eyes, antennae, Wings and other things, as well as the dotted flight track behind it. After drawing these, I started to draw the plants in the front part of the clothes. The relationship between the plants in this part is a bit complicated, so it took me a long time to sort out the relationship when I was drawing it. But after I sorted it out, it was fine, so I have to draw it here. Don't give up, the painting method is the same as before.
Remember to outline the veins for the small leaves on the nose, and then use red color pencil to add some red. I am using a utility knife to scrape off the small particles of oil paint stuck to the face, and then After cleaning up the picture, we next draw the details of the pomegranate fruit, using royal blue and dark red colored pencils to draw the leaves and fruits respectively. Then remove the neckline and left hand, and use red colored pencil to draw directly on the oil pastel coating to create the shadow of the neckline and distinguish the before and after effects of the fingers and face.
06. Next, we need to complete the plant on the right half of the cat's tail. The painting method is the same as before. Many steps are actually repeating the previous actions. Just pay attention to the relationship between before and after when painting. Next, use gray pencil to complete the outline of the cat's back half, and then use black pencil to deepen the outline, making sure not to miss the pink flesh pads. After painting, add small paws and fill in a little bit of pink.
07. Then we started to enrich the picture, using royal blue colored pencils to draw the small blue plant behind the green leaves. This part is just looking at the painting. If you feel it is missing, just draw the leaves in. After drawing more leaves, remember to connect them together to make them look like they are growing. Then we finished the clothes and colored this part with colored pencils. The colors used were peacock blue and dark green. The final effect was a sharp color contrast with the red pomegranate fruit.
The yellow background here is made of earthy yellow lead. Fill all the white background. Remember to leave an area of ??pink flowers for embellishment. The second little bee is drawn in the same way as the previous one. Next, I painted the English words for autumn. Here I used black-brown colored pencils and dark brown oil pastels. After finishing the painting, I felt that the color was too dark and overshadowed it, so I used a utility knife to lighten the color of the oil pastels.
08. Then continue using earthy yellow colored pencils, and use pink and yellow colored pencils to draw the petals and center of the flower as well as groups of two or three osmanthus flowers. Then fill in the parts that were not painted before one by one, such as the decoration on the neck, a small part of the plants in the background and the green clothes. Then use earthy yellow colored lead to fill in the remaining background, add some osmanthus flowers, and finally make final adjustments to the picture.
The final signature is over.
What oil paintings in OVER are comfortable to look at?
The painting "Lunch on the Grass" uses light and shadow techniques. It depicts a scene of several people having a picnic on the grass. Most of the light in this painting is concentrated on the woman in the middle of the painting. , like a spotlight on a stage. It makes people unable to take their eyes away from it. The woman has a comfortable look on her face and is setting the tableware. The sun casts spots of light through the leaves. You can almost feel the warm sunshine on the scene from the painting. The woman is bathed in the sunshine, enjoying the beauty. The other three people were enjoying the shade under the trees. The man in the couple picked up a parasol and pointed outside the painting. The woman arranged her hair as if she was leaving. The man looked at the woman and waited quietly. The man on the left is dark in color, in sharp contrast to the woman. The man in the picture is looking leisurely into the distance, as if looking at someone. In such an afternoon, there are fruits and sunshine, shining through the green leaves in a colorful way. The summer scenery is lush and lush, the atmosphere of the painting is tranquil and comfortable, and the master uses light and shadow expertly. My favorite part is the couple at the back. Their movements in a split second are simply a stroke of genius. What are the styles of illustrations? What are the common types of illustration styles?
