Is it because of feng shui that Nanjing, the capital of those dynasties, did not live long?

In the history of China, six dynasties took Nanjing as their capital. During the Three Kingdoms period, Zhuge Liang saw the ancient city of Jinling when he went south to Wudong. He once commented: "The Dragon Pan in Zhongshan is surrounded by stones, which is really the residence of emperors!" Wang Dao, the minister of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, once said: "Jiankang is the ancient Jinling."

However, this ancient city with strong royal spirit is short-lived. For example, in 69, the Eastern Jin Dynasty 102, the Southern Song Dynasty in 59, the Qi Dynasty in 23, the Liang Dynasty in 55 and the Chen Dynasty in 32.

Wu Dong

Later, in the early Ming Dynasty, Zhu Yuanzhang first established the capital here, but later Judy launched the battle of Jingnan, and after winning the throne, she moved the capital to Beijing until the demise of the Ming Dynasty. The Taiping Heavenly Kingdom in the late Qing Dynasty also made Nanjing its capital, but it lasted for nine years and was destroyed by the Xiang Army.

So some people think that this should be related to Feng Shui. According to legend, Qin Shihuang passed by here during his six-day tour. He thought this place was full of dragons, so he cut off the pulse and dragons. So is it really because of Feng Shui?

Actually, what's wrong with Feng Shui? It's just a guess of later generations, without any basis.

Southern and Northern Dynasties

Geographically speaking, Nanjing, as the founding king, is easy to defend but difficult to attack. The emperors, whose capital was here, attached importance to "maintaining stability" from the beginning, and lacked the strategy of pioneering and winning the Central Plains.

Ancient Nanjing mainly faced attacks from the west and the north.

Facing the pressure from the north, we must take defending the Huaihe River as our primary task. As the old saying goes, guarding the Yangtze River is the gate of Nanjing and the last line of defense. Since ancient times, the dynasty that ruled the river has put all its eggs in one basket and there is no way out. If the Yangtze River falls, Nanjing will not be guaranteed. During the Northern and Southern Dynasties, if we take Song Qi Liang Chen as a whole, we can see that Song Qi Liang, who was guarding Huai River at that time, was all dragons. However, he went bankrupt in the northern part of Chen Dynasty and rowed the river for 32 years.

Taiping Heavenly Kingdom (1851-1864) [established by Hong Xiuquan (Hong Xiuquan) as the leader of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom.

The pressure from the west must be kept in Jingzhou, and Jingxiang area is located in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, in the middle of the world, and is the gateway to Jiangdong. Once lost, the northern army was taken directly to Nanjing by land. The destruction of Wudong in the Western Jin Dynasty and the Southern Song Dynasty by the Mongolian Yuan Dynasty all began with the fall of Jingzhou. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, the Kingdom of Tian Ping was forbidden to go north to Huaihe River and west to Beijing, which was suppressed by the Qing army.

In the Southern Song Dynasty, there was Huaihe River in the north, Xiangyang in the middle and Sichuan in the west, which could compete with Mongolia, the world's first power at that time, for more than 40 years. This country has only existed for a hundred years.

So from the economic point of view, the regime that moved here, because of its rich land, is unwilling to explore the northern Central Plains, and it is the easiest to live and work in peace and contentment. In feudal society, the state also sailed against the current. If you don't grow, you will be annexed, so the dynasties in Nanjing are short-lived.
