Longling County is located in the west of Yunnan Province, with geographical coordinates of 98 25 ′ ~ 9911′ east longitude and 24 07 ′ ~ 24 50 ′ north latitude. Southeast and northwest border Shidian, Yongde, Zhenkang, Myanmar, Luxi, Lianghe, Tengchong and Longyang in turn. The county has a maximum distance of 64 kilometers from east to west and a maximum span of 78 kilometers from north to south, with a total area of 2,884 square kilometers.
The county has jurisdiction over 5 towns and 5 townships (including 1 ethnic townships). Longling is located in the Nujiang fault zone, where earthquakes and geothermal heat occur frequently. It belongs to subtropical mountain monsoon climate, with obvious three-dimensional climate and annual precipitation of about 2300 mm, and is known as "rain curtain in western Yunnan".
