Nanchong belongs to Sichuan Province and is a prefecture-level city in Sichuan Province. The middle reaches of the Jialing River is between 30°35′-31°51′ north latitude and 105°27′-106°58′ east diameter. It spans 165 kilometers from north to south and 143 kilometers from east to west. It borders Dazhou City to the east, Guang'an City to the south, Suining City and Mianyang City to the west, and Guangyuan City and Bazhong City to the north. The area is 12479.96k㎡.
Nanchong City can be divided into two major landform units: the northern low mountainous area and the southern hilly area. The terrain slopes from north to south, with an altitude of 256 to 889 meters. The landform types are mainly hills, with shallow hills and flat dams, medium hills and valleys, and high hills and low mountains accounting for roughly 1/3 each.

Climate
Nanchong City belongs to the mid-subtropical humid monsoon climate zone, with four distinct seasons, with rain and heat in the same season; light and hot water are mainly distributed in crop growing areas ;Climate characteristics: early spring, long summer, short autumn, less frost and snow, warm winter; annual average temperature is about 17℃; annual sunshine time is in the range of 1200 to 1500 hours; annual rainfall is 1100mm; disastrous weather (such as autumn cotton) Rain, drought, floods, strong winds, hail, etc.) are more frequent and last longer, and northwest winds dominate throughout the year.

Nanchong is poor in metallic minerals and has rich reserves of some non-metallic minerals. Nanchong's underground salt mine resources are extremely rich. The Nanchong Salt Basin is the largest natural salt mine in Southwest China and ranks among the best in the country. It has salt rock geological reserves of 1.8 trillion tons, oil reserves of 77.79 million tons, and natural gas reserves of 100 billion cubic meters.
There are also 52.929 million tons of shale for bricks, mainly distributed in the third district of the city and Langzhong City; 643.18 million cubic meters of gravel for construction, mainly distributed in the third district of the city, Pengan County, Langzhong City and Nanfang County; 5.6652 million tons of clay for bricks and tiles, mainly distributed in Langzhong City, Nanfang County and Xichong County; 48,400 tons of bentonite, mainly concentrated in Yingshan County.

Nanchong is rich in scenic and tourism resources, including the national historical and cultural city Langzhong Ancient City and the provincial historical and cultural cities Nanchong and Peng'an. There are also tourist attractions with the culture of the Three Kingdoms as the main line. Chenshou Wanjuan Tower, Hanhuanhou Temple (Zhangfei Temple), etc., as well as provincial-level scenic spots Jinping Mountain, Xishan, Baiyun Village, Shengzhong Lake, Zhang Lan’s former residence, Luo Ruiqing’s former residence, etc., integrating historical and cultural cities, Three Kingdoms Culture and Zhu De’s former residence are integrated into one.
