Simenkou
It is the general name of the crossing zone between Jiefang Road and Zhu Min Road in Wuchang. Wuchang District People's Government, located in the northwest of this intersection, was the yamen of Hubei Province in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, namely the Fansi Yamen, also known as Fantai Yamen, commonly known as Fansi. The yamen faces south, and the gate faces the long street, which is now Jiefang Road.
The long street in history was blocked by Snake Mountain and stopped at the southern foot of Snake Mountain. The street from the north of Snake Mountain to the entrance of Fanyamen is called Simenkou. At the end of the Ming Dynasty, people were superstitious about Feng Shui. They want to save Daming Mountain by breaking the sanitation of Guishe Mountain, dig through the Snake Mountain (and cut off the glans at the same time), and extend the long street to the gate of Fanyamen, but they are still used to calling the north of the mountain Simen. 1935 When the road was expanded, the Laofan yamen was opened at the northern end, extending the road to Zhongshan Road, cutting the Snake Mountain in the middle, and putting a reinforced concrete Snake Mountain Bridge on it, so that the general name of the company gate extended to the south of Snake Mountain, almost including the main commercial downtown area of Jiefang Road today.

Later, in order to eradicate the Yellow River, the whole river channel was changed into an underground culvert, and the fourth main road in Hankou, Jianshe Avenue, was built. The cement bridge was also demolished, leaving no trace.
