Achang Religion What is Achang's belief?

Like the Dai people, Husachang people generally believe in Mahayana Buddhism. Religious festivals include "Walking into the Valley", "Leaving the Valley", "Burning White Wood" and "Water Splashing Festival". Some larger villages have their own Buddhist temples and Buddhists, and the masses take turns to provide food.

People's support for Buddhists and charitable activities of religious festivals consume a lot of manpower and material resources. According to the statistics of Mang rural area with only 43 households, the annual rice used for religion in this village is about 30,000 Jin, and the average household burden is close to 700 Jin.

The Achang nationality in Lianghe is influenced by Han and Bai nationalities. Ancestor worship is very common. To bury the deceased's cemetery, Feng Shui teachers are needed to watch Feng Shui, build graves for the deceased, and burn paper money for the ancestors of the "deceased" according to the July custom of the nearby Han nationality.

However, they still have their own characteristics. For example, they think that people have three kinds of "spirits". After death, a person was sent to the grave with the body. One is provided at home and the other is sent back to the birthplace of their ancestors. Most of them were sent to Tengchong along the route of moving south. In modern times, they were rarely sent to the north, but to the nearby Chenghuang Temple.

In Achang village, there is usually a temple dedicated to mountain gods, land and lonely immortals.

Several stockade temples are stockade palaces of ethnic minorities, and some stockades are dedicated to mountain gods, land and herders. Sacrifice these gods three times a year: pray for the village to become clean and safe in February, pray for the prosperity of six animals in May, and pray for the bumper harvest of grains in June.
