Dialogue with Wang Chuanshan on the 400th anniversary of his birth.

Wang Yangming (1472- 1529), whose real name is Shouren, whose real name is Bo 'an, whose alias is Yangming Zi, is from Yuyao, Zhejiang.

Wang Fuzhi (16 19- 1692) was a thinker, historian and scholar in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. Zi Nong,no. Jiang Zhai, is from Hengyang, Hunan. In his later years, he lived in the left-handed Shichuan Mountain in Xiangxi, Hengyang for a long time, so scholars called him Chuanshan and Mr. Chuanshan.

Xiong Shili, a modern philosopher, said that he was a scholar of two kings (Yangming and Chuanshan). In Neo-Confucianism, I dare not say the pros and cons, because I really haven't read it carefully. Some people admire Yangming, some admire Chuanshan, and some admire both.

Then, although there is a biography of Chuanshan today, few people watch it. There seem to be many books about Yangming, and many people read them. Some entrepreneurs I know have carefully studied Yang Ming's Handbook and praised it as the spirit of the enterprise. Besides Neo-Confucianism, Wang Chuanshan has also made great achievements in poetry (Jiang Zhai's poetic remarks, etc.). ) and history (reading as a mirror, etc. ). But now people don't do special research, and I'm afraid they don't know much about it. Yang Ming's poems and articles, I remember there are two in China's View of Ancient Literature. I don't know much about poetry, let alone its calligraphy.

Mr. Chuanshan's language is obscure, and it will be difficult to understand without working hard on ancient Chinese. So it is difficult for people to understand the value of his article.

Generally speaking, people's understanding of Yangming and Chuanshan should be that there are more people who admire Yangming than Chuanshan. This is not only their contribution to Neo-Confucianism, but also the main reason is probably Wang Yangming's military achievements. As far as the comprehensiveness of its historical figures is concerned, Yangming should be better than Chuanshan. Wang Yangming is a master of mind, and his academic achievements with Lu Jiuyuan are collectively called "Wang Lu's mind". His study of Wang Lu's mind has many followers and various schools, which had a great influence on the late Ming Dynasty. As mentioned above, Wang Yangming is a rare all-round Confucian in the history of China. He combines the three principles of traditional Confucianism, and can be crowned as a thinker, philosopher, writer, strategist and so on. Of course, Wang Chuanshan is also very powerful. He was one of the three great thinkers in the late Ming Dynasty and put forward the famous idea of "obeying the world". He, Huang Zongxi and Gu are also called the three great enlightenment thinkers in the late Ming Dynasty.
