Antarctic boxing is a particularly excellent boxing in Nanquan. It is a hard-working boxing from other countries, and it is also an advanced boxing with outstanding self-defense skills. It is famous in Chaoshan area and overseas. According to the oral tradition of Nanzhi boxers in the past dynasties, this boxing originated from South Shaolin Temple in Fujian and was created by Hong Xiguan, a lay disciple with both civil and military skills. It has a history of about 300 years now. At that time, there was a young monk in the temple, Yanhe (later called Shuangchan), who learned this kind of boxing. During the reign of Emperor Gaozong in the Qing Dynasty, Shaolin Temple was burned down and left Guangdong for Jieshi, Lufeng and Shanghai. He heard that a master in Xuanwu Mountain Temple killed a tiger and wanted to see his martial arts. Unexpectedly, he is dead and has to walk. Suddenly I saw a big man who killed pigs and sold meat in the crowd, with a big rake on his shoulder, claiming that if he could afford it, he would cut the pork and eat it without paying back the money. Make peace and go in and reach for it. As soon as he wiped it, the rake jumped up at once. In an instant, he took his time, opened his fingers, gently supported him, and slipped back to his original position. This big man who kills pigs and sells meat used to love martial arts and often practiced it with a few friends. Now, when he saw that Yanhe was different, he was very happy and immediately begged Yanhe to stay and teach. Master He saw that he was sincere, so he stayed to pass the boxing.
There is a local man named Chen Nanzhi (also known as Jianshan, born in 1847 and died in 1925), who is the most accomplished and skillful disciple of Yanhe. When he was young, he left because he killed his father. Later, he was adopted as a stepson by an old man in Deng Village, Nanshan, Jieyang County. Since then, he has taught boxing, worked as a traumatologist and made geomantic omen.
