The Beauty Cave of Longshan Temple

When Longshan Temple was built in the third year of Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1738), Zhang Chayuan, a Kanyu scholar, was invited to examine the terrain and believed that the place was a "beauty cave", so he dug a pool in the open space in front of the temple as a "beauty cave". "Looking in the mirror" is used to protect Manga's feng shui.

This pool was named Longshan Temple Pool after it was excavated. It occupies a very large area and the scenery is quite beautiful. More than 200 years ago, it was said that from the back of Longshan Temple, you could see Zhishanyan Huiji Palace, and in front you could see Yuantong Temple Ciyunyan Rock. If you saw lights in these two places, it would be heard in the Wanhua area. After the construction of the "Beauty Mirror Pond", it not only protects the residents of Wanhua District from the disaster of Huilu, but also ensures the prosperity of the region.

In 1919, the eighth year of the Taisho period in Japan, in order to open up today's Guangzhou Street, Ryuyama Temple filled in the pond and built it into Ryuyama Park, but still maintained a fountain. At the same time, for the convenience of management, Ryuyama Temple The park land was also donated to the Taipei City Hall, where the current Taipei City Hall Park No. 12 is located.
