What are the four major families in Huai'an?

The four major families in Huai'an are: Ding, He, Wei and Xu.

The Ding family was an outstanding cultural family in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China.

The He family originated from Panyu, Guangdong. He Xian was born in 1908 and came from a well-to-do family in Yingtang Village, Yuexi Township, Shilou Town, Panyu City. At the age of 16, he broke into the provincial capital alone and worked as a clerk in the grain and oil trade to become a shopkeeper.

The Wei family was one of the "Four Great Families" (Ding, He, Wei, Xu) in Huai'an during the mid-Qing Dynasty. In its heyday, it owned many properties in this lane.

The Xu family is the oldest and oldest prominent family in the city. Its ancestors who moved to Haining can be traced back to the Jin Dynasty and have a history of 1,600 years. The two main branches are "Lingquan" and "Luo". Tang", with members spread throughout Haining.
